We bought a 2015 Twingo 2 months ago. On Friday while driving slowly in heavy traffic the clutch seemed to fail - the car started jumping forward with the clutch depressed and then stalled.
Got the car parked safely and contacted dealer who was very unhelpful. After 20 mins started the car and drove home carefully but noticed that when stopped at junctions/roundabouts the car was inching forward unless the footbrake was applied (clutch pedal fully depressed). A local mechanic who I trust thinks I will need to replace the clutch but the local Renault garage has quoted me €2000+for the job. Currently waiting for estimates from local mechanics. Has anyone had similar issues with clutch / gearbox.
Model is 0.9 TCE Dynamique Energy

Hi there,

We had this exact problem!!

It’s the clutch master cylinder.

Fluid seeps past the seals when you hold the pedal down which you do more in traffic.

You can test this by putting your foot under the clutch pedal to see if you can raise the pedal (you shouldn’t be able to by much at all)

As a temp fix until repaired you can pump the pedal repeatedly and you will regain some control.

Suggest you get the part from the main dealer, we found it almost impossible to find one elsewhere.

We ordered one from AUTODOC and it came with the wrong ‘lever’ piece that attaches to the pedal. We decided to use the old lever piece on the new cylinder and it now squeaks!!

By the way I think this fault is caused by lack of maintenance. The clutch fluid should be changed every two years like the brake fluid.
