I have now had the proper Renault alternator put in; it took several weeks to arrive. So far the problem has not come back and she has the same 'feel' as before - put a little extra pressure on the accelerator and she wants to be off (to the race track or the motorway will do). Vroom, vroom.

It is a Twingo Gordini 133 - malta blue with white stripes, panoramic sunroof, alloy wheels. Bought new in Feburary 2011. Always serviced by Renault dealers, done 145k+ miles. Lives in the garage (!!) when at home. After all this time, no major changes, except a replacement of the alternator...
