Hi guys I am currently in the market for a twingo, however I am undecided whether to go for a 133 or a gt... Reason explained below...

I can get a second hand gt with circa 10,000 miles for less than 5 grand, a exhaust and remap later should see 13obhp, thus similar performance for much less money. Thus I ask, other than bhp what are the difference between the 133 renaultsport and the gt. What further modifications would be required to put a gt on par handling wise with a 133 cup.

Many thanks in advance, please reply as I need to make a decision post haste due to my current car dying!

Many thanks.

I dont have a GT or a Sport.. But from what i have heard, to give you a quick reply.. The GT is a car that isn't 'set up'.. you have to add and remove things to make it the car you want it to be, if you have the money and the patients i recon its a good project to tune a GT up to RS standard..
But the RS on the otherhand is like a ready made model in a box.. instead of putting the bits you want on, everything is near perfect and its already 'set up' to a high standard.

I couldnt tell you which is better, ive seen some progrtess threads on here.. people have had alot of stuff going on with there GT's.. but the RS is such a better looking car i must say.

Hope this helps abit :)

Much prefer the look of the 133 and of course it comes with the renaultsport badges and RS ownership ;) never driven a GT but I can't imagine it ever feeling like an RS. Don't get me wrong, the GT seems like a great car and has the potential to be modded etc but do you get the RS feeling? Maybe someone else can say!

I have had both a GT and now a RS. It all depends what you want out of the car i prefer the 133. Better handling, Looks epic and is one damn cool car.

Yeah gt looks gash next to a 133, the arches and wheels are laughable purely cos the 133 fills them so perfectly. I personally wanted a 133 and so bought one, if you want a 133 but think you could get a gt cheaper and make it almost as fast if not faster, just remind yourself it's still not gonna be the rs you want whatever you do to it. I did that with my last car, wasted thousands and it was still not the brabus I wanted

i like the gt's and with afew mods i think can look pretty good-iv just seen a silver one in the pics from todays meet that looks very nice.
gt's are nice and lively and excellent for around town stuff but struggle with longer runs.

the 133 has lot more comforts and the chassis has had more time spend on it, which shows plus u are getting a bigger engine which can only really b a good thing

in the long term i think the 133 would b the better car for afew reasons

depends on what u want the car for really i guess...

If you have the abillity to buy a 133 over the GT, but the 133. Coming from a GT owner. Quick reasons...

A. I'm already bored of the stock speed after 3 months
B. The body roll is outrageous
C. It just doesn't look as good.
D. The 133 (higher insurance group) will be cheaper than a modified GT that now has the same pace.
E. Long journeys the 133 is better on fuel because you have to Rev the hell out of the GT to get the speed.

I'm out of reasons.. But!...

That's Steve-o's and is currently for sale, check the for sale section. Because that's already at the performance of the 133.. Near enough... I think...

I like the GT, I like the idea of being able to extract a bit more power but still have it cheap to insure, cheap to buy and easily underestimated is appealing.

The only thing is though, that the RenaultSport has far more prescence. The beefed up styling really suits the shape of the Twingo. Alongside the 133 the GT looks a little weedy but I still like it.

The other thing to take into account with the GT is that the 133's handling is brilliant. Even without the Cup chassis it's grippy and chuckable.

For me, if I was buying a GT, I'd factor in an intercooler, re-map and then coilovers and wider rims. I have an image of a GT slammed on banded steel rims and on the deck. If you could get similar power and similar handling then you're onto a winner.
