hi, i am new on here :D, not realy intrduced my self yet  lol
but i have just bought my self some gordiny 133 cup alloys
and i need a little help, i know its been asked millions of times before but i cant seem to find what im looking for through the search.
i know i will need hubcentic wheel spaces to fit on my gt, but what i am confused about is what size tyres should i use? 205/40/17 or 195/40/17 with say 20mm spacers?
i know holliedynamique is useing 25mm spacers :?

yeh i understand i need spacers lol, but what size? and what size tyres should i buy?
basicly will 205/40/17s fit on with 25mm spacers?, and possilbly allow me to lower the car 30-40mm? i know it sounds compcated lol, but i dont fully understand the off sets

message Hollie as she will probably be able to help

Hey, basically 25mm hubcentric spacers is what u will need to correct the offset and make the wheels sit right, although I'm running 195,40,17" tyre profile, u may be better looking at 30mm spacers (beware of price difference) if u opt for 205, 40,17" as I think my current spacers give 14mm clearance of suspension at the rear so the wider tyres may be too close, if I were u I'd play it safe and get the 195,40,17" tyre size unless u really want a bit of extra curb protection.

thanks guys realy appreciate the help :D
thanks hollie thats pritty much the answer i was looking for, i dont want 30mm spacers im happy with 25mm, although its a shame i cant use 205s cause there cheaper than 195 and easyer to find,
your car looking awsome too :) mines white too lol

205's may be possible with the 25mm spacers (which would give the cup alloys an effective total offset of ET30)

The 205 is only 10mm wider than the 195 (obvious realy) but the increased width is shared between inside and outside, so 5mm clearance lost either side. Playing it safe due to differences between brands of tyre and the 205 needing less stretch, 7-8mm extra clearance would seem reasonable.

If Hollie can confirm theres more than 8mm clearance with the fronts on full lock, both ways. and also clearance on the rear, it's probably workable. If Hollie only has 5mm clearance, it may still be possible but that would depend on the shoulder profiles and actual size of the tyres and would be a trial and error fitting test

If it helps there's a really good tyre that I got instead of the continentals because of price, £89 each for 195,45,17" hankooks which I felt was reasonable as a budget tyre on my old 15" alloys was £60! They r excellent tyres I'm sure Karl will back me up on that I found the tyre noise is not to bad considering how low profile they are and grip is excellent! It would just be safer I think with the clearance but I'll test how much room I have after what singlespeed said

iv actualy got some 205/40/17 on some alloys i had on a car a wile back i forgot i had lol they have got decent tread but i cant remember the makes, but i found some hankooks 195/40/17 for £75 a tyre on blackcircles.com

Fitted? Depends on which hankooks. Karl has some on his and said they're good in the dry but not quite with the contis in the wet, which he doesn't drive in anyways...

well fitting is no problem what so ever i work in a ford main dealers so fitting n balanceing is free :D, i dont realy wana pay more than 350 for 4 tyres tbh, i dont rate contis atall i had some 225/40/18s on my old focus 2.0tdci i had that remaped to 170bhp and they just couldnt handle the torque what so ever, so weith it is a differnt story on the twingo i have no idea lol

if fitting is free, then trial fit one of your leftover 205's before deciding. Other than a bit of time, nothing to loose realy :)

Fitted but i did buy all 4 tyres and that was with my spacers being fitted aswell, they are Hankook ventus S1 Evo's; i found them quite good in the rain but they are a lot wider than my previous ones; i know for a fact that for a much cheaper tyre than the continentals they are pretty good, it would make me cry paying £145 for a tyre

I've got hankooks all round, not sure which ones though and like you've said road noise isn't much but then all I hear is exhaust most of the time lol. They do grip amazingly well in the dry and rain I've found compared to the tyres which were on my alloys that I had on my extreme.
