i just brought some 182 alloys and thinking of turning them into winter tyres.

does anyone have any recommendations or avoids as i know a few people on here do have winter tyres.

What size are the wheels?

I only run winters on the front, so went for 205/50-15 to match the standard tyre sizes, but there's not as much of a choice as you get with 195/50-15. I went for Kumho KW23 (as they were the cheapest) at £55.00 each.

Most experts say its worse to run just one axel with winters and the other normal.

I think we can all see where they are coming from - the fronts will have so much more grip that under heavy braking there is a possibility of the car trying to swap ends, so they have to look at the possibility of litigation based on their remarks. In an ideal world, 4 would be best but I have managed with just two on a front wheel drive car for a good few years now.

The car can oversteer in snow, but the object of the exercise is just to get to a destination - not break records for the time getting there.
