Car needs 4 tyres soon and read that 205/40/17 can be used and are cheaper. I understand as a wider tyre mpg would drop a very tiny bit but would the off the line acceleration be better due to wider wheels and as same side profile would handling be better or same? Assuming using the same tyre

There are plenty of threads already covering this subject, I won't bother using the search function though. In fact a very similar thread has appeared in the last 24 hours in which this would of been appropriate to ask

You really bothered about off the line acceleration?

As the difference wouldn't be noticeable at all, also its not asif the twingo is great off the line anyway, i'd care more about grip than trying to make a nippy car "fast".

The 205/40 isnt the same side profile. The aspect ratio (40) for the sidewall height is a percentage of the width, so the 205 will be 4mm taller which raises the height of the car. It also increases the circumference of the tyre which will increase the gearing and probably decrease acceleration but reduce the revs needed for a given speed.

Just got 205s on my RS much ether ride and not **** scared anymore to go up a small kerb!

Just don't buy budget 205's as I found tonight not very good when ya having to blits about lol

Don't buy budget tyres full stop. You only have 4 contact points with the road at the end of the day

Occasionally three points :?

Got 4 prada spec 2 tyres on order what would you say was the best 205 performing tyre ?

i've read yes and no's about this, but what is it in reality...:
will the 205s rub with an H&R lowered RS?

I'm not sure what offset Kevins wheels are but he said they do on his Dini

With the cup wheels and 205/40/17. Mine rubbed occasionally with the Apex springs fitted... never really enough to raise any concern.

In a week and a bit, when I get back onshore, I will be refitting the cups again untill sorting some winter tyres

There is the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT released in 2012 more recent than the conti3 which it seems to have two sticks instead of tires. And he is much higher in all areas, particularly in support, especially dented while being much softer. The tread is at least 15mm more, for those who think up the 205, it is equally, if not wider than 205 but not in continuous above. The 205 reports lengthening already long on the TRS.
It is beautiful, better and more cheaper.

on full lock 195's 40 dont rub only when the load shifts forward lets say if you do a harsh 180° turn then they will rub 195's but i have no problems in daily driving but with the RS on H&R lowering and 17x7 ET42 rims i have to say they are a tight fit tho :p (bankcard doesnt fit in the gap :D) (Tires are Pirelli P Zero Nero GT and dont have reinforced sidewall)

i cannot speak off 205's they are slightly wider and chances will be higher that they will rub on full lock but i think it will be do able for "normal" driving :p

I actually want to switch back to 205's.. like my wheels a little bit more meatier but it's not going to work with my current setup.

I have a few new ideas ;)

Plan is to get some nice updates for the next FCS. Vacation to America is delaying them though.
It was an expensive vacation
