If any of you read my recent thread regarding a rumbling sound from the belt area, I've just found out from the garage the water pump needs replacing.

The water pump/belts/coolant were replaced when I got the car Feb 2012 and it was on 20,000miles. Since then I've done 5500miles.

Apart from an over tightened belt or faulty replacement waterpump, can you think of anything that could cause this? The garage are fresh out of possibilities

possibly shody workmanship, not torque'in the bolts correctly but most likely just a faulty pump from new. that really sucks i feel for you man

Yeah it sucks but I'm not bothered really as they are covering the costs, I'm just wondering what could be the cause. Here's hoping the parts arrive in the morning and I have it back in time for the blackpool meet

On the old style big replacement american V8s you could easily kill a waterpump by revving (repeatedly at the stoplight....cool huhhuh) with a cold waterpump/engine.
