So.. The qashqui is very nearly a year old now... And since september of last year when it was bought its done 6100 miles (not a lot but its not used THAT often) - probably about 5000 of which have been motorway ones with constant trips to Yorkshire and the IOW.

I had the perfect opportunity to give it a quick once over this weekend..

I started late on Thursday afternoon.. Looking at the car you can see it hasn't had a great deal of love - covered in scratches and is the dirtiest car i have ever seen!

I spent a good hour on the boot alone, taking out the carpet lining and then the foam inserts with jack etc. and finally the full size spare wheel (17" with fat tyres..i don't know what they are  )... gave everything a good hoover put it all back..

I used fairly weak APC on the interior dash and surrounds and they came up trumps.. Along with my trusty Dyson to get rid of all the dirt on the floor!

After spending nearly three hours just on the interior - without dressing anything it got dark so it was as good as it was getting!

Moved on to the engine bay which had obviously seen better days... The bonnet had only been lifted once before.. My nan decided to put petrol in the diesel engine a couple of months ago.. So had to have the whole engine flushed...

So a quick wipe around on the inside with some APC and a mirofibre and all was complete :)

On Friday afternoon i got on with the outside... First thing i couldn't wait to get my hands on were the alloys.. God these were a state!!

I had previously bought some turtle wax ICE cleaner or whatever it is especially for these as i knew they needed something fairly strong. Spray on>Let it soak>Goes Red> Wash off..OMG i have never used something as effective as this wheel cleaner! AG Custom Wheel cleaner was brilliant for light dirt but this was VERY effective. The wheels bled brilliantly and with a quick squirt of water it all washed away and i was left with nearly a clean wheel! A little agitating with my new Megs super safe wheel brush and they were done! Still took me 45 minutes for all four though! Great results:

As my dinner was nearly ready i decided to give the car a quick snow foam and rinse - which then turned out to be a slow one as my lance decided to stop working for some unknown reason... :( .. But rinsed the car down with the jet wash and then went and had dinner..

I didn't really fancy using the dodo stuff i use for mine as i know it won't get treated with the same respect in the long run :( so as i have a 5 litre carton of Turtle Wax sitting in the Utility room i thought i would use that :) Which is fine for what it is but doesn't give a lot of foaming and doesn't give brilliant results so easy..

But anyway... another hour and a half of washing panel by panel... and the car was complete. I think i counted well over 100 different scratches on the bodywork :( (i don't drive it very often so its not my fault :D ) Worst of which the whole of the offside.. wing, mirror, door panels, and rear bumper. Now its clean you can really see where the problems are... I doubt they will ever get resprayed as the car will only be with us another two years :p

So there we are.. A nice and clean qashqui to feast your eyes on!! (just ignore the scratches)

If you are ever after a car of this size then i would highly recommend one as they are a beauty to drive. Having it to myself over the last few days has made me realise once again how nice they are, and coming from nissan, with certain renault characteristics it is a VERY nice car :)

Thanks for reading!

That was a state! Could anything actually be seen in the mirrors!

Glad you got it clean tho and the front end scratch isnt too noticeable anymore!

I didn't get time to polish it :(

The mirrors no couldn't see anything out of them at all! can't see how they didn't get wiped before but i havnt driven it or even been in it for months!
