Just bought a 750 watt amp and 1000 watt wiring kit for my gt.
Just wanting to know will the standard components, ie alternator, battery etc, be able to put up with the amp running 2 x 375 watt 6x9's. Or is a power capacitor needed?????
thanks.

Joe, we'll need more information than that lol. will need the amperage hour rating they'll both be working on :) but judging by the voltage alone if you go by the IVR triangle lol then it certainly seems to be way within alternator output

Im not an electircian so ive got no idea what your talking about, amperage hour rating?
Theyre fli 6x9s. And its a juice amp from caraudiocentre.co.uk I cant give much more info until the stuff comes. Just want to know as I wired in a 750 watt sub into my clio and it killed it haha.

sorry man, when you get the stuff through the post let me know. look on the plug and look at how many volts it says, let me know the (V) voltage and (Ah) Amperage hour rating OR current that it says it runs on and i can tell you wether or not you'd be better of with a capacitor or a secondary small battery in the boot :)

aye man you're going to need a capacitor. the dc input charge of an alternator is around 14.4 V and as you can see the dc requirement of the amp is 14.4? a battery that isn't being charged (when the car isn't running) will sit at around 13.2 V optimum but anywhere around 12 is what you usually expect to see so with a difference of up to 2 V the amp will run weak and act as a parasitical drain on the source. in other words, your battery's going to dead fairly fast as soon as you turn of your engine and continue listening to some absolute chooons haha :(

i wouldn't install a capacitor personally mate. they are only for avoiding power spikes, ideally what you'd want is a second battery with an isolator switch (24 V) but in all honesty the best thing to do would be to contact an auto electrician and ask for some advice :)

Not read all above posts but carefull u don't pop ur speakers. I know they both have same watt total and it's hard to do but i have blown 6x9's before with a decent amp :D

It finally came!!!!

it also says, idle current is 0.45A in the book

^^^ looks like an 30Amp fuse, so not a huge load, even if you were to run it flat out. Although, saying that, it will still drain the battery if the engine isn't running

As Rob says about damage. I doubt you will be running the amp flat out as something will be starting to sound awfull by that point.

Thanks for all the info, im in the process of wiring and setting it all up. Ill keep people posted to see if it dies or not ha.

GOOD NEWS, the amp and 6x9s are all wired up and they sound awesome, going to be keeping my eye on the starting and idling of the car to see if it struggles with anything.

One quick question, is this alright?

the connector doesnt have any contact with any other parts but im just wondering if its ok?

Thats alright the.
