I have something to ask all who may be able to help!

Basically i am trying to do a bit of work on a friends X reg Ford Ka. I hate it, and finally she has been convinced to get rid! But, in order to do so i need to try and get it looking semi presentable! its not in the best of shape, scratches all over the place, chunks of paint missing and LOADS of rust spots.

What im after is some help with cleaning methods that are not going to damage the car any further than it already is!

I dont really want to spend loads of money on it, but we are trying to achieve about £1250 for the sale because of other older but similar specs etc of higher mileage are going for more...

Thoughts please?

Sorry mate, but there isn't a hope in hell that's gonna fetch that price. Even the late ones in good nick are struggling to fetch £1000! People just aren't buying them.

As Maggi says, that price is probably quite optimistic. As a result, it's probably not worth spending days and days detailing it to perfection.

I'd just wash it with Born To Be Mild, polish it with Lime Prime and Protect it with Red Mist. I'd also clean the wheels & glass thoroughly, dress the tyres and plastic trim, and give the interior a spruce up with the vacuum cleaner and some diluted All Purpose Cleaner.

Doing the above would give you an excellent time:results ratio :)

Ok cheers guys, we said £1250 because locally they are selling privately for slightly more than that - our area is full of them because it's also full of old people..

Thankyou :)

Do you mean selling or are for sale though? I bet they've been sat there at that price for donkeys

Sorry but to get that money you will be looking to get bits painted that will then eat into the 1250 from cleaning it up.

If it was me i would give it a good wash and polish then look and think what would you pay for it

I wouldn't pay anything for it because I hate them! And yes £1250 is optimistic, but they seem to be for sale on the streets and then going quite quick! I'm not that fussed as its not my car to sell, and as I said I hate it! Just want to make sure she can get as much as possible :)
