So it would appear that when it comes to under the bonnet antics I am the biggest cluts on this site. I bought a BMC air filter and was about to change it today when I dropped 2 screws from the air box into the under carriage that I couldn't find on the road afterwards. THEN one of the screws corroded when trying to un do it. So now I have 2 missing screws and no way of getting into my air box. Should i drill out the screw or just take it to a garage for them to do quickly? Also, does it matter if there are a couple of screws missing from the air box?

Did you remove the under tray and see if they are resting on there? I would if it was me

that sounds like it would require jacking up etc and I'm a student so I dont have those sorts of resources.... haha

To be honest, the thing has about 12 million screws too many holding it on so I don't think losing a few will make a world of a difference, as long as your remaining ones are at each corners of the airbox lol

haha good good that was what I thought as well! I just went into a garage got it done for me for £4 and now I swear theres a world of difference in performance! Gave me a smile on the way to university...

Of bigger concern would be where the screws have gone? Lodged in a radiator? Ready to flick into a belt?

I don't mean this to scare of course, but I would be looking more closely until I had found it myself

I'm with Maggi on this! I want to know that one of these screws isn't gonna become a bigger problem. If you haven't got the necessary equipment I would find some!

Had a screwdriver lost down there before, went over a speedbump leaving home and out it popped 100M from my house, parked up picked it up job done

I had a torx lodged somewhere in the engine bay of my old Clio for months until I found it just up the street from me on the way home from having my lowering springs fitted
