Hey all! Hope everyone is well :)

Just a quick question, The other day i went over a few big bumps in the rain (did not see them) and from then on could feel and hear a vibrating noise when the car is idaling, i also noticed that the car starts to sound absolutely awesome above 3500-4000 rpm. I had a look under the bonnet and it seems the air box has unclipped (i don't know a lot about car mechanics so hopping I'm right!) but i was just wondering if i have been driving about for 4-5 days in the rain with this like it is have a bummed anything up? and also is there a replacement air box that will make it sound like it does at the mo?

Thanks! :) Chris

fitting an aftermarket airbox to the 1.2 tce is a challenge.
I've bought one recently and still have to experiment where I'm going to place it exactly (wanted to do it the past Saturday but didn't had the time)

But it's possible, yes.

If it's a 1.2 Extreme Chris has, I presume it's a non turbo variety ;) (Might provide some more wiggle room)

Oh didn't see that, well then it should definatly work. Damn dumpvalve and turbo take away some space.

Yes unfortunately i have the ickle extreme non turbo :( i wish insurance wasn't so ridiculous and i would have the turbo haha! still though for a 17 year old first car it is quite nippy :p

So would a aftermarket air box just have the same effect as having it open?

You on about an enclosed induction kit? Or a cone or panel filter?

Hey Chris

From the description, it sounds like the lid has unclipped from the top of the airbox. If so, as good as it sounds with it unclipped, i would certainly recomend clipping it back down. With it unclipped, the engine intake will be bypassing the airfilter which won't do the engine any good if it's breathing dusty/ gritty air.

A cone type filter or enclosed type filter would probably sound close to what you had with the lid loose

On my extreme the airbox was crammed in behind the engine and an a$$ to get to. So changing to another type of filter could result in having to place it elsewhere
