I have successfuly, on my own (with girlfriends help, but everyone should know how much help that would be), fitted black suede headlining!

I used plenty of PVA glue, and applied it would brushes and rollers, it was simple!
Took a while though, but so happy now!

Finished work at 4ish, went to Dunelm Mill, bought the suede £30 for 1.5mtrx 2.5mtr.. Which was so much more than needed i guess,
but they sold it in the 0.5mtr so i wanted to be sure :)
Finished at 11pm, hence the dark photos, glue set properly overnight and its solid as :D

No glue soaked through, just one small bit of glue on the suede at the back i spilt by accident :( dries clear though thank god

I didnt didnt get photos for a how to, or any step by step photos..
But i did get these! :D

I just used plenty of duck tape to secure it in place, that stuff isnt comeing off anytime soon!

The misses thought it would be a good idea to get an action shot of me screwing the eye shade back up lol.. genius....

Here is one of the cut i had to make to get it to mould into the corners, guess its the best i could do! It lookes really bumpy, must just be the different ways the fibres are going, its all quite flat!

Gave it all a wipe to make it look neat, without the finger marks and that, looks the shizz :D

Thanks for looking guys!
(also gonna post this onto my progress thread)

DUDE.....

That looks awesome!
Top job on that!

Does it make the interior feel much darker and enclosed? Sometimes, dark interiors can do that...

Yeah! suprisingly i feel more comfortable for some reason, also at night it looks like the sun visors and light are floating haha! I love it!

OMG. I know what i'm doing next week when i get paid! Any recommendations on what to use instead of suede? I want black..

Errm, i dont know.. Any kind of fabric! Go down to like a fabric store and take your pick!
Suede is £12 a metre.. the width was 1.5mtrs near enough, was plenty :) get around 2.5 metres and you can have some to play with then, tempted to sort out my door card and gear gaiter

That would look so good..

How easy was it to take the lining out in the first place..?

dont get me started.. got a rash from what its made of! looks like some kind of fibreglass..
Anyway, ill show you a picture of the passenger grip thing i had to take off.. what a ******* it was to get off!

Had to use tweezers as i had nothing else.. was so hard! and the hook part of the sun visor.. i think i broke one, but they both went back in okay..

Just takes time and quite a bit of patients and effort! and especialy perfectionism ;)

how did it come out of the edges? just pull off? and then where it was stuck on, that just pulls off as well i suppose?

Basicly..

The grab thing, you need to pull the rectangle thing out and it like unlocks its, and it comes out..

The light it easy, pull cap off, unclip it..

The plain circles are just support, with a good pull they will come out ( one at front , 3 at back
..

The sun visors unscrew from both sides, the outside ones unhook, and the inside ones are really hard to get out if you dont do it right.. Its hard to explain, when you unscrew it, it like pushes the back toward the roof, and the two 'arms' i will call them, straighten up, so they will come out easily, but i just pulled mine out and broke one cause i didnt know..

The microphone, just pull the front off and push it through..

Just need to be careful when unhooking it from all the edges, and the lining is foam stuck to the roof which easily comes off, then pull out the boot..

Ha, i just don't see how easy these things are until someone else does them... they float around in my head and i think how much i would love to do it, and then i think that will cost a fortune! but you go to prove it doesn't! I'm gonna try and take the bits out over the weekend and get them done wednesday evening if i can!!

Good stuff! Just dont go too long without sun visors, its a piss take! mine was out after work, drove to work in the morning blind and fitted back in after work.. It can be done!

Ive got a black strip along the top of my windscreen so don't need sun visors anyway really :)

Thats alright then :)

I have like a big strip of suede left yno, really tempted to go get the n0b gaiter out my car and use it as a template, use some nice grey stitching and have something else ive done myself! not sure how ill do the soor cards, not sure what im gonna do with the edges.., maybe just a grey stitch round the edge and stuck on or something

Im gonna have a look in the car tomorrow and see if there are any bits that i think would look good. i might see if i can get my mums friend around (as my friends mum couldn't do what i wanted) and see if she can put some stitching detail onto certain things! i think i just need to be a bit more brave and play around with things a little more :)
