Hi Everyone,
Has anyone got any experience with either Alloygator (www.alloygator.com) or Spartan (www.spartanrimprotector.co.uk) rim protectors as advertised on the internet please? How difficult are they to fit and do they really work? Which is the better buy as there seems to be quite a price difference? Look forward to hearing from you. :D

Or just learn how to drive ;)

But saying that they look an interesting concept.

onl thing i can say is that they would work if just got a lip sticking out and teh rest of the alloy is sunked back, as teh twingo alloys are flat witht eh rim, it wont stop kerb damage

Seen these before an work well an easy to fit (plenty of YouTube vids)

I'm with Chris on this will stop a slight tap but not a full on grind :/

ifs its a wheel like this

then the protector might workas lip is only thing that sticks out and the main body is back but twingo wheels are like this with no lip

basically just dont hit a curb becasue it will destroy them

I've got sport Maxxx tyres on my 133 and they've got a reasonable amount of lip protection built into the tyre itself (even on the 195/45/17 size). Haven't really put them to the test but it looks as though they would give a bit of protection against a little edge. Obviously won't help much with a full on grind as others have said, but gives more protection at the very edge (against low curbs etc) than the contis

I changed my tyres to 205/40/17 Hankooks, and I'd recommend that all 133 owners do the same. They are about half the price of the Continentals and offer far better protection. In my opinion, they also look better and perform significantly better.

I've got hankooks aswell and they do look a lot better on the car and the overhang of the tyre is much better even on 195 profile, the tread pattern also looks pretty cool for anyone that's sad like me lol :D

When u say perform better? In wat way! Does wider tyres not make the top speed of the car de-crease?

I understand handling may increase.

I am interested for when I have to replace tyres! Thanks

They just feel better overall. I don't know, but I'd have thought that a greater surface area and more grip would put the power down quicker. Not sure if it would affect top speed.

Yesterday, when I was sat with 65 on the speedo and also GPS, you were probably showing slightly higher (~68) as the standard size under reads slightly... But we were both traveling at the same speed.

Was reading EVO magazine couple of days ago where they reviewed a bunch of tires (Michelin, Pirelli, Hankook, Continetal, etc..) and the Continetal ContactSport 3 comes out as the best in overal for all conditions combined.
