Last year we sold our house and planned on moving to a smaller 'village' about 15 minutes from where we are now. five weeks to completion the house we were buying pulled out. After we had spent about a grand on surveys etc... We started looking for houses again but everything fell apart further up the chain so we pulled out and left it at that. It was a really stressful time and seemed to drag on and on... But now ive been shown two properties which are both perfect in their own ways...

Theres this one:

Which i love because it is all symetrical and is completely finished to my taste... But there is no scope for any work further than a large conservatory on the back, and maybe a bit of landscaping out back too... its in a nice quiet area which is all only 4 years old...Its four bedrooms with dining lounge and study and three bathrooms and a single wc... 2 big bedrooms and 2 small..

or...

Which doesnt look too appealing to the eye to start with - inside is much worse than the out  - but there are so many possibilities of things to do to it.. its got FIVE bedrooms but only one family bathroom and a single wc.... lounge diner (36 foot long though) plus conservatory out back... It needs a hell of a lot of work doing to it... But this is reflected because its about £40,000 cheaper than the other one... Just wonder if £40,000 is worth the hassle and the time?

HELP!!!

Courtney :)

I would say no..go with the top one,

Yes it's cheaper but:

- what's the area like?
- You won't make any changes to the appearance of the house so even though you could make it lovely inside, the location and aesthetics of it may lead to you struggling to sell it in the future.
-The top one isnt attached to any other house (forgot the word!!), so you can make lots of noise and not worry!
- Top one has a garage
How long do you think you would stay in the house 5years? 10+?

Well you can see the top one from the back garden of the second one so they are close.. I just don't think the front of the second one does much justice.. Arhh! I'll have to get the builder round and see what he says :s

Your only 20 arent u? Wish I could afford a house like this lol
Plus go for the top one its so lovely and it just looks so fresh and a lovely spot for your car :D

It's mine and my mums house, I part own it with her ;-) I do really like the top one... We havnt got our house on the Market now but shouldn't take long too sell I hope! Fingers crossed the top on is still there when we are ready!

house buying is not the easiest thing i`ve been having so much problems buying my first house, i`m getting they now.

I would go for the top one :)

We tried getting the agents round to value ours today but the earliest they can do is tomorrow :( But never mind... What i think we have decided is that we will try and go for the top one first.. (coz thats the one we and everyone like the most)... but its just a case of whether its still there for us when we are ready! We did sell ours and nearly move last year but five weeks to completion it all went pete tong i just dont want that to happen again :(
