Hi Ladies/Gents,

So i was competing in a rowing race on the Thames yesterday in -1 temperatures, to finish the race and come back to find the Twingo had been broken into and nearly stolen. Along with 5 other of my team mates cars. Lucky they only had widows smashed. The wankers took phones, wallets and kit which costs around £200.

I blame the Twingo's looks, its just to dam pretty.

Anyway on a serious note.. does anyone on here know of a good body shop where i can get an repair estimate in Bristol? If i go through my insurance, annoyingly, i will lose my no claims which id rather not.

On top of this my insurance will charge £250 to get it fixed.

They used a chisel and a hammer to try and break through the drivers side lock, and as a result have punctured a hole in the metal next to the lock, and have fucked the lock itself and smashed the back drivers window.

Any advice on body shops or if anyone knows of a driver door kicking around, which i can fit myself would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys,

Ben.

That sucks :(

There are a few twingos being broken for spares on ebay - haven't had a look properly but there could be a silver one which would mean you didn't need a door spraying. Might be a bit tricky with the lock if they've buggered it.

I've had a quick look on eBay but nothing came up, ill have a better look in a bit.

Dazza that's very kind of you! I don't think I'd be able to get it to London tho mate. Cheers anyway

Saw the photos of Instagram. Feel for you, looks horrible :(

I had a front window smashed whilst driving, got a replacement through Karl but the back will be bonded on so not sure if that's the best route to take?

Yeah man, ******* wankers lol.

Iv just dropped the car off for a rear window replacement at a local glass specialist.

I think I'm gona have to go through insurance for the door if I'm honest, because the fucked the locks.

A chissel :( probably chavy kids.

Or this one for non tinted. Not sure which side they have

Being as later Twingos only have a lock on the passenger side, maybe removing the lock and having it patched would be an option.

Hope those help, as its gutting when you find something like this (or an empty space as happened to me once)

On the same subject... There's some work being done at the business park I work in. Rocked up today to find the barrier ripped out and laying on the floor and police around the building site.

Yesterday there was a JCB here... Today there is not.

Thanks for the links mate.

I'm thinking the best thing maybe to get a quote for getting lock removed, getting a plate put on top and having it resprayed. That's if I don't go through insurance which may turn out to be the least expensive.

It's tricky.. If you as much as inform the insurance company it can come back to bite you in the ass later on. You have to be really sure you want to go through with insurance before informing them. Won't they require a Police incident # too?

The idea of smoothing the lock may not be the best idea but it would be down to you. Not saying you will and I wouldn't want you too but if you got the problem where the immobiliser needed resetting by removing the 5amp fuse you wouldn't be able to get in the car to to do it.

I'm hoping that won't be the case.

I'm ringing the renewell part of the company to see how it would effect my premium next year going thru them. If its not to much then ill go with them.

I'm going to ring around a few coach works to see what they say

Mines only got a passenger side lock. So long as the passenger side one can be unlocked with a key

Or an AA/RAC man would get in without resorting to a chissel

Mine's only got one on the passenger side too. TBH you could probably quite happily remove it, as long as you don't upset the central locking. And it would look better.

Sshhhh I didn't see drivers side lock

I didn't until I spotted Neil's post  I assumed that they didn't come with them, since they stopped on the clios back in ~2001 iirc (as the law changed I think).
There isn't really a clean side on the 133. Passenger side there's a lock. And on the drivers, you've got a massive cut out for the fuel filler cap

This is so gay, sorry to hear about the twingo and your stuff. Can't leave a car anywhere nowadays. A friend of mine had his car broken into at the weekend but only got away with his iPod. I make sure I remove my iPod and the face plate of the head unit every time I leave the car otherwise I panic.

Yeah so long. About 30 people had there gear stolen. Sucks.

With regards to the driver side lock, it prop would look better! Lol any idea about the cost of doing that?
