Howdy :D

Just wondering of people can recommend any back boxes & a dump valve for a G.T?

I guess it's the next stage as i've has it lowered - just want to get on with the next bit!

I'm interested in getting them in the new year. Not bothered about it making the car faster or anything, it's just for show & sound!

I Ideally if I can get the 2 for under £300 that would be ace, but I don't want to waste money on crap that will fall apart in 6 months!

Cheers peeps .

Hate to say this but you get what you pay for so £300 for both probably will be crap stuff.

I suggest save up for abit longer and get the ktec exhaust system for only £298 as that's not a lot at all for an exhaust compared to a daft universal backbox and then for dump valves I don't like them anymore but you need a twin piston and don't get some crappy unbranded one as it'll probably fall apart, forge have good ones for around £100.

Tuning a car on the cheap can cause a lot more problems later because of their shoddy quality.

I have the Forge Reciculating dumpvalve. It's like the OEM dumpvalve but when pressed hards it makes a distinctieve blow-off sound.
I used to have an atmospheric but for a daily car, it was driving me mad.

As for the backbox. Don't go too cheap or it will sound like a wet fart and droney on the highway.

get yourself a lovely HKS - SSQC III / IV. i've just ordered one myself, only need minimal tinkering and you can buy flanges readily. no need for the twin piston's though as these little GT's don't operate on big boost pressures this should cost you about 60-70 for the BOV and flange adaptors posted leaving you 230 for a custom exhaust. i'd suggest going to a local custom exhaust which will set you around 250. better to veer away from ktec as they are fairly common and i'd assume you'd want something different to make your car a little more unique and for a cheaper price. obviously you can go for the usual bailey / forge dump valves and ktec exhaust if you want to blend in to the crowd!

Good luck finding a REAL cheap SSQV ;), real ones new can easily take up the whole budget but it doesn't really require setting up even though setting up a DV is a piece off piss as it takes no skill at all

You can get a custom exhaust but bear in mind it can make your car worse because custom systems are only as good as the person making them whereas the KTEC one has been designed from the ground up to work perfectly so only go the a custom exhaust place if they have lots of good feedback.

Oh there's posts all over the net on how to spot a fake HKS SSQV and when I was looking for my old GT about 85% of them on eBay were blatantly cheap fakes, but the real ones are very good if you're willing to splash the cash.

true that, all over the place so they are. you'd probably want to put the best of gear into your car though but on a budget you could go for one of the GFB range if you want it for show and fun.

https://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/dump-valves-accessories-universal/gfb-mach-1-universal-blow-off-valve-2 this is the one i have in the garage right now but it's fitment is for another car, i ripped it off a subaru when i aquired the seats lol. i managed to brake the plug so it's not on the car, it's really fecking loud though lol but it's not form over function it does the job perfectly

i forgot to mention man have a browse over DT's dump valves and take your pick :) someone here will put you right with what size inlets you'll need as i can't remember from the top of my head. it's that pineapple express!

You could always get your back box cut out a pipe welded in, cost me £120 plus VAT and sounds awesome and you could pick up a dump valve for around £50 - £100 second hand, you can do them both for under £300 easy.

Wow loads of good responses! Cheers everyone.

Yea I guess your right with the quality thing - cheap is cheap after all! Maybe i'll look at saving up a bit more to get the exhaust done first & then the Valve at a later date. Demon Tweeks is literally 10mins from home & 2mins from work but heard too many people say they're well overpriced but worth another look I guess.

It's the only thing I think that's missing on the car really is a bit of a growl when driving around! It always turns heads wherever I go - but a bit more noise would top it off nicely! Don't get me wrong I don't want a WRC popping exploding flame shooting thing just something with a bit of a purr driving round and a growl when you put your foot down!

I was advised to get the HKS - SSQC III / IV ages ago but just like you guys said there are that many fakes around didn't want to chance it! I take it the atmospheric one goes off constantly where as the reciculating one only when it actually needs to!

on the hks note, your best bet would be to go onto hks uk's website and check out the uk dealers / retailers. fairly sure demon tweeks are an hks retailer, although it's not advertised on their dump valve section they or some of the other dealers could order you one. with how expensive turbo's are to rebuild or replace, you really don't want to be putting on a cheap piece of crap. for all associated turbo parts, hks is probably the pinnacle of turbo tunning in my oppinion and the advantage would be that if you sell up you can keep the hks BOV and fit it to your next turbo car :D

you only want a backbox and not a full system right? if you go to a custom exhaust shop they will do you a custom backbox for pretty cheap. about 100 quid or so mate, and with the twingo gt having no silencers other than the OEM backbox it will sound fantastic if you have a backbox that has no sound deadening so you'll have the same sound as brad gt and mike healeys ''backbox delete'' exept you will end up with a nice twin tip backbox for looks so to speak.

Cheers Oscar,

Yea it is just the back box i'm after. I'm going to contact a couple of guys around here (one is actually 10mins from me https://www.alunox.co.uk/) & see what they say - will keep the d.v on hold for now but see what price I get for the back box - if its good enough maybe get it early in the new year :)

Now - I need some pics of my car! Just realised I haven't put any up! Might hang on though as it's booked in with CLB Valeting for a winter wash, polish n wax - make it super smoooooooth for this harsh welsh weather were about to get :-s
