Planes can be pretty epic. You a Boeing rather than airbus fan, or just a 747 take your fancy today?

The whole 'massive machine moving through the sky for thousands of miles' thing gets me everytime, amazing things

More of a boeing fan than airbus yes.

and yh you're right..its amazing what they can do/get in the sky!

i find this machine incredable can fly at the outskirts of space flys at 2,200mph and is un detectable from radar even if it is seen from the ground nothing can touch it not even a missile it sweels more than a foot when at such high altatude.

They are really impressive but I still refuse to get on one...

How much do they weigh? It shouldn't be possible that they can get in the air, yet alone fly around the world!

Maximum take off weight for the 747-8 is 442,000kg.

Checking that also made me find they cost $300,000,000 each. (give or take a few million based on your choices)

If you go by that logic though, huge cruise ships shouldn't be able to float and bees shouldn't be able to fly

I must admit it seems crazy but there's some clever physics that goes on that actually makes it kinda logical.

Nope and I don't want to :p

Maybe I will one day and I'll think 'what the hell was all the fuss about' but until that day, I'm staying on the ground or on/in water :)

Love them. Man can do some pretty amazing things. Have you ever been to air tatoo rob?

I think you should change your name to Stanley Kubrick.

I'm not going to pretend I have any idea what you're on about lol

Here's some fun fact's... As this is my department.

I work over at Stansted and ... Mr Obama is coming for a visit next week bringing... A 737 for the press, a 747 (airforce one) for himself, a 757 for the family, a 757.. just in case. And a BBJ also just in case.

And I shall be seeing them all :)

And a random one, because I see a stealth bomber in the post...

The B-2 bomber (this thing https://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/b2/images/b2_6.jpg)
Can get all the way round the world in one fuel of tank, a very large one be it, and has the radar signal the size of a tennis ball

One of the greatest British filmmakers that ever lived (The Shining, Dr Strangelove, 2001, Full Metal Jacket etc etc) who refused to fly. Ever.

So all these amazing films were made around where he lived in St Albans.

Gotta love some of the RC models that get built of planes too. Like the actually jet powered concorde one...

I bet you'd be scared landing one of these for the first time....
