It was actually my wife but here me out. She and her friends went to Lakeside shopping centre to do some Christmas shopping. She finished at 21:45. On her way home she would have to pass through Dartford crossing with the toll, the interesting twist was that from 22:00 it is free. She managed to join the M25 by about 21:50. She told me to try and avoid to pay she would drive 30mph on the slow lane. To her amazement no one was going faster than her, even the fast lane[LOL].

When she got over the bridge it was around 21:57. From memory there are at least 6 gates that you can go to but everyone was lining up on one gate making a long queue. There even seemed to be a bit of a fight as everyone joined it and the other gates where left empty.

One or two poor souls at the front of the queue had to pay at 21:59. As soon as the clock hit 22:00 everyone dispersed and went over to other gates.[LOL][LOL].

The things we do to avoid paying.[LOL]

Or the easy way - don't use the toll, or stay in the shopping centre a little longer!! I have family up north and refuse point-blank to use the M6 Toll now, unless I'm travelling in the early hours when it's really cheap.

I went to Alton Towers with a few friends back in September and the M6 was shut around Birmingham so consequently I thought "sod it, I'll use the toll". To my horror it was £5.30 and it's such a rip off when you add up the cost of fuel etc and if your return journey is also back down the toll, that's another £5.30, which adds a total of £10.60 to your journey costs. I'd rather sit in traffic than pay to not sit in traffic!

Can't beat the m6 toll road when I went Manchester I used it there and back **** sittin in traffic. As for the dartford toll there talkin about makin it £2 instead of £1.50

Don't get me wrong, I like the M6 Toll, it's a great idea. It's just when it first opened it was only £2 or £3 quid for a car, which you don't mind, but now it's just ridiculous money that I could probably spend on something else.
