basicly. i have a black gt with white stripes on like you can see in my avatar pic. when i was polishing and waxing it i got some black marks on the white stripes from the polish/wax and it has stained. i have tryied loads of shampoo on the stripes to try and get rid of the black marks but they wont come off.
any ideas please?

I guess you have spread the car colour with the polish, and then sealed it in with wax.

You'll have to use a polish on the stripes again, and then re-seal with wax.

No way to spread the colour araf, it's clear coated.

Oh and if they're the textured stripes, a small stiff brush and strong solution of apc or some degreaser would do it I would imagine. Careful not to touch the paint of course with the brush

Toothbrush...

Well yes that would be the obvious but if you're me you may have another suitable brush dedicated to detailing. Not gonna make any difference other than stopping me brush my teeth afterwards :p

Ha, wasn't suggesting use the one you use for your teeth, just a tooth brush with stiff/extra stiff bristles would be ideal, and I've used stuff like Cif/Jif cream with one of those to remove marks from things..

Yep forthe same reason they're good for your teeth they're great on trim etc

As long as the cif stuff is bleach free that's not bad. Any strong degreaser or all purpose cleaner should do

I believe it is bleach free, it's just a light abrasive, I generally use it on trainers making them white again...

I used the washing machine. Holy crap that made a lot of noise!

Oh yeah. I forgot about that now.

Must be dirt that has been dragged across then. I guess that if the stripes are matt, SRP will only gloss the area, as well. :?

they are textured stripes and its cos the wax and polish is black especialy for black cars.

so if i got some tape, put that over the paint next to the stripes so it doesn't ruin the paint then brush the stripes with degreaser.( not sure what apc or tfr is. what's that? ) then they should come clean?

APC is All Purpose Cleaner. Think Jif or daisy from tesco. Or you can buy dedicated stuff (I use G101 personally)

TFR is Traffic Film Remover. Typically used to remove traffic film as the name suggests as it is a very strong degreaser, usually used by truck yards and those quick car washes, spray on hose off and mostly clean stripping most of the stuff already on (including wax)

Unless its a bit of the glue residue from the edge of the stripe thats been softened, stained and dragged across the white?

Could try using a bit of Autosmart Tardis which removes tar and glue residue.

i know that its the wax/polish cos i touched the edge of it with the cloth then tried to rub it off but it just smeared it in

ill put some tape on the edges of the stripes and use an old toothbrush with some JIF if there is any in the house lol. if not ill see if i can find a small bottle of that g101. just looked it up and there is nothing i can really think of using it for atm lol

worked perfect with CIF thanks :) not sure how i'm going to get the roof done tho as the stripes are not only harder to get to but are harder to tape around. might just leave the roof haha

I wouldn't use parcel tape :p low tac tape would be best, like masking tape for painting
