So I own a black twingo RS and as I'm a student I dont have access to a hosepipe. After weeks of using polish speaking car washes I'm starting to get swirl marks. I've now bought mel shine car shampoo to use after ive used a polish speaking car wash to try and get the best shine, as well as using car polish also.

Can anyone tell me the best product or anything I can do to reduce swirl marks?

thanks

Autoglym supervresin polish is where you should start!!
Wash the car, dry it, polish it with that, buff it, and put wax on if you have any! Zero swirl marks should be visable if they arnt actually too bad!

iv found the more you use super resin polish (couple of times a month) the better it will look. the deeper swirls will dissappear after a few uses, best way by far is using a machine polisher. I bought a cheap one from argos last week. it was only £30 and the finnish was outstanding! I would recommend it to any novice detailer.

okay Ill start with some better polish! ill think about the polishing machine when I get my student loan haha

Deffo polishing machine if its really bad or if it feels bumpy on the surface on the paint you may want to clay bar it

Poorboys Black Hole glaze on top before you put a final wax or sealant on it.

This will do a good job of hiding any swirls left behind after polishing.
Collinite 476S or Finish Kare FK1000P should give you long lasting protection.

If you are careful applying and removing, Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection is good on top of Autoglym Super Resin Polish.
AG SRP only has a little protection in it. AG EGP is a synthetic sealant.
Two coats of that on a well polished and glazed black car should go down a treat.

for my twingo, rinse well with water...

Clean only in straight lines... with a good thick microfibre sponge or mitt
top to bottom
theres no need to really scrub or apply pressure to the car
dry with microfibres
do a final dry with microfibre glass clothes to give it a high gloss finish

should be extremely shiny then (however it does depend on the paint) if not wax it up again gently, if that doesnt help, get it machine polished, had no problems with my black one yet and it always looks extremely shiny without waxing or any really special proceedures.

^^^ On the basis of prevention being better than cure, two bucket method should help minimise swirls and scratches. However it wont fix them,

I've owned a few black cars in the past, including a MR2 Roadster which won best in show a few times a Tatton Park and also been in a few mags.

Keeping them swirl free is a very time consuming job - I've used many different polishes / waxes but recently I've changed over to Farecla G3 Finish Gloss Enhancer, great swirl free finish - gives a nice "wet look" also works well on new paint (it was shown to me by a paint shop after they had done some work on the Twingo), as to be applied by machine but easy enough, water beads off nicely and fairly long lasting. Needs to be applied with the correct pad for best results, price is good for a large bottle (90ml), pads can be a little expensive.

blacks a pain for swirls.

if you don't have access to a machine polisher and are doing it by hand then in my experience you wont beat meguires scratch X for swirl removal! - its not easy doing a car by hand no matter what product you use though!

before I had a machine polisher I bought this, ex driving school, 150k miles, supermarket car washed twice a week for 3yrs never polished, it was a mess, scratch X by hand and...

Good reflections, however, the swirls will not be seen with natural lighting. Have you used Auto Finesse Tripple?

Had some problems with swirls too.

So I added something to the detailing cycle.
First I fully washed with a DIY jetwash.
Secondly clayed with Meguiars clay bar.
Thirdly (and that is the new one) I added a compound (Meguiars)
And as last waxed everything with Kenotek.

I also cleaned the entire interior and windows with Kenotek. Didn't bother too much with the wheels as they're kinda a lost cause to get fully clean again and just used some wheelcleaner.

Very shiny Wind, would love to get ours looking that good ! Like the look of the twin exhaust tailpipe on the Wind.... Thinking of a new pipe for ours, what have you got fitted

It's a shop called Skytune in Belgium. He makes costum exhaust, and you get to pick the tail pipe.
Catback + tailpipe is from Skytune. The rest of the exhaust is a downpipe, lambda probe (to keep the emission light from getting on) & sportscat by Ktec.

Interesting, like the sound of that set-up may have to look more into it when there are some spare ££'s in the kitty
