Is it just my Gordini or is the paint under the bonnet sh!te?

I mean the paint under my Megane's bonnet is a well painted and lacquered as the outside of the car. Under the bonnet of my Twingo it's crap though, feels rough and the paint is clearly thinner and not lacquered.

I like my engine bay to look like this -

No chance of a shine on the Twingo though.

Glad it's not just me!! lol

Just a shame as there's not even any bonnet carpet underneath to cover up the shoddy paint or lack of!

As above. Looks like they got bored and gave up. Less paint saves weight ;)

Mine looks good. Thoroughly degreased, waxed and regreased the necessary parts. It was laquered only it looks like they let an ape (an actual ape, not some racist slur here!) loose with the grease, it was everywhere!!

Quite a entertaining mental image that

I'm impressed, is yours actually glossy like the outside of the car?

I remember when my Megane was serviced and they put copper grease on the bonnet catch and battery terminals. By put I mean smothered. I got home and cleaned all the excess off.

Yes mine is very glossy. So it should be with 5 layers of z2 on it

I totally stripped the grease and applied some nice white grease in what I consider a more reasonable amount! Theirs was terrible! Very dark and horrid and all over everything!

I am impressed they bothered. Maybe yours was made by a better sprayer. Outside of mine is good and not swirled but under bonnet I'd prefer some carpet haha.

White grease would be a better option although mine isn't covered so never needed to clean up really. Just wipe down with a microfibre now and again.

What's it like with the mrs' car under the bonnet? Maybe just a difference between the colours, I assume they make more white cars and will also assume they're made in batches so could be as you suggested? Different sprayers?

I've not really paid as much attention under the bonnet of the Mrs car. I will have a look actually.

I've only wiped it down with a drying towel but can't recall if the finish felt rough like my Gordini. Will check and report back!

My white twingo is all glossy white underneath the bonnet too, with just a bit of grease on the catch, my old black C1 was half painted but then it was a £8,000 car new lol

See, now you'd expect it from an £8k but when a Gordini is almost twice that you'd expect paint haha.

Then again, I have high expectations as the Megane is quite a different beast in terms of attention to detail than the Twingo haha. Not that the Twingo is actually bad or any worse than other cars but the RS Megane is surprisingly good.
