is it ok to run my GT without the back box? theres no middle box as standard, just wondered if it was legal/mot to have a staight through pipe from the cat, would it be too loud? or any improvement in performance?

You can as long as you replace the box with another bit of pipe so it still exits where it should from the body whether it be curved at the end and pointing towards the floor or pointed out backwards from below the bumper. You could always buy a tip for it too.

I have zero silencers on my clio (same engine as gt) and I like the noise ;-)

Edit. Here's mine on the rollers to give you a vague idea of how mine sounds with no silencers and according to that rr printout mine was pushing 123.1 bhp at the fly and roughly 122 ft lbs at only other thing I've done to mine is the k&n open filter.

Twingo GTs doesn't have any silencers anyway.

Rear box is technically a silencer :p lol I know was meant to just write about the replace rear box with pipe amd got carried away :? lol

will it pass mot/ or will they fail it on emmisions? or do i have to put rear box back on (pain)

Probably still pass emmisions as the back box doesn't affect this BUT they could fail it for being too loud and also for not having any silencers.

The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 state that a car should have at least one silencer and not be excessively loud meaning the Police could pull you for it too.

If you've got a lenient tester you should be fine though! Depending on how you removed the box you could maybe clamp it back on if required?

Mine passed it emissions test with flying colours with no silencers only recently you should be fine :)

Should pass if its warmed up.

I seem to recall someone on 197.net passed emissions with his CATs removed straight after a thrashing, although it failed at 2000rpm but passed at 3000rpm ;)

Mine passed emission too but I watched the bloke do a "manual test" and not even rev the car. Lazy, but I'm thankful ;)
