Had my car mot'd and serviced at arnold clark 2 weeks ago. Paid 96 quid for my local garage to look over it (for 4 hours) this morning.

They said it should have failed the mot on:
-emissions
-lower ball joint rubber seals need all replacing
-coil pack was slightly corroded, recommended the scuttle panel needs fixing and new coils
-spark plugs were okay apart from one looked a bit suspect

He said they checked everything on the exhaust and all relevant sensors and they were all fine and to them, it seemed there was a leak somewhere on the manifold.

Straight on the phone to RUK. Dropped the car off an hour ago and phoned RUK back and said I'm not having the car back until I can see the physical evidence of the work done. Absolute joke!!!

I know there's no chance of me being refunded 96quid and I'm not bothered. How can you pass and MOT which should have failed? Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

You'll have to pay for all the repairs anyway as it'll be out of warranty?

Surely it's not bad knowing that it'll fail next years MOT and it gives you a year to spread the cost of the repairs?

Also. Arnold Clarks servicing department won't report to RUK on servicing MoT matters.

I suggest you go pick yer car up.

extended warranty and RUK have spoke to arnold clark and its all getting repaired

yeah I know first thing RUK asked me was did I take the extended warranty out. I'll leave it with them see what happens anyway. Just wish they hadn't passed the mot in the first place

Just out of interest which arnold clark did you use? Was it the one in warrington near ikea or is there one in wigan itself?

Its the one in wigan on scot lane. They've not even wrang to say " we cba looking at it so we are keeping it tonight..."

It amazes me that after all the bad press that there is about arnold clark that people still return to them.

This isnt anything personal but before i drop my price and joy of anyway, the first thing i do is check the reviews online to see if the people looking after it are any good.

Anyone interested in peoples horror stories should read up the reviews on arnold clark and how they treat thier customers, sadly i got involved with them and it was one of the my biggest mistakes and have regretted it ever since.

Rant over.

James :)

well just heard of them, they've ordered the new lower ball joint arms and can't find anything wrong with the manifold. They are looking into the emissions because they finally agreed they aren't as they should be.
Waiting on a reply about the coils and scuttle panel. At least I'm getting somewhere with it :)

Our AC have been nothing but helpful in any repairs needed for our 200. Gearbox replaced no problems and on Tuesday Emma took it in to get them to look at the door seals coming to bits (Common Clio problem) and they did the job there and then no issues.

Anyone have any idea regarding the emissions?
Arnold have said they cant find anything wrong with the manifold and they are investigating it further
Theres no faults with the sensors or problems with the exhaust system

I recon if you get that new fuel system treatment done (Not sure a lot of garages currently use it but I seen it on Wheeler Dealers). They ran it on an old Corvette powered kit car that failed its MOT on emissions. Totally eradicated nearly all of the hydrocarbon build up.

Mine has just failed its first mot on emissions (caused by a faulty sensor in the exhaust) and a split rubber boot. Pretty poor since its only done 16k miles. Luckily I got it done before warranty expired so no cost involved. I'd suggest any new Twingo owners do the same to avoid any unwanted surprises!

Mine failed mot on emissions last month and was a hairline crack on the manifold barely viewable and car was out of warranty. Managed to get it welded tho :)
