just wondering what a clay bar does to you car? Does it remove light scuff marks? im asking cause im starting to notice a couple small scuffs on the side sills from people getting in and out of my car, if not does anyone have any ideas how i could remove these?

If they're scratches no but it will actually remove the rubber from people's shoes with ease. Remember to lube up!

The clay glides along the top surface of the paintwork, picking up any imperfection, it doesnt scrub or polish at all, just removed all contaminants..
To remove hairline scratches you will need a paint 'cutter'.. like an aggressive polish, like t-cut but only better.. deep scratches can not be helped though :(

Btw not all clay bars are equal. But not all cheap ones are bad. My personal favourite is zaino z18

We sell good value clay bars, clay lube and clay kits :)

As others have said, claying won't remove scratches, but it will remove scuffs inflicted by shoes, as well as most other paintwork contamination.

Thanks for posting this fella, I've always wanted to know but never got around to asking!!

Dude! Bring your car over and give it some loving before the leake street meet

Yeah if that's the agreed, only one I can do tho so fingers crossed :)

Then you can show me how a clay bar actually works. As I don't have a clue

A clay bar effectively sheers any contaminents off the surface of the paint with the aid of lubricant. That makes it sound harsher than it is but obviously you use plenty of lubricant and the clay is generally soft so it doesn't harm the paint.

It does leave it glass smooth though which then makes it an ideal finish for polishing and then waxing.

CarKandy used to do a really good block of clay, (200g for £9) but sadly they're out of stock. :(

That is very true, I'm pretty sure the Dodo Juice range has a variety of grades to choose from.

If you're after a very mild clay, Sonus Green is excellent stuff, it's all I use on my Megane. I believe the Meguiars clay you can buy in a set is a medium grade which I've found more than adequate on quite heavily contaminated paintwork.

IMHO, having tried so many different clays, the grey Megs one goes stringy and falls apart when it gets wet, so not one of the best out there, and quite pricey.

Our own Vertar branded clay was Highly Recommended in AutoExpresses clay bar test in the summer, and is £8.95 and £9.45 for a huge 200g bar. And a Twingo133.net exclusive ( a real world exclusive, as not announced anywhere else yet) - we're bring out a concentrated Lube to go with it which will bump up the price by a massive £1.50.

As a limited time offer, buy eitehr of the standard Vertar clay bars (link below) and we'll throw in a Lube totally free. Just put Twingo somewhere on the address like as 'company name' and we'll include it. Do not rely on posting on here or sending me a PM. Or order on the phone - Freephone 0800 1777 808.

cheers
