ok bit of a random Q but i know there are loads of u on here that LOVE to clean!

im goin to be spraying lots of engine bits, covers/rocker/mani's etc soon and was wondering what u guys would use to clean these items up before spraying??
the stuff i would normally use works wonders but it messes with the paint so anyone got any good idea's??

All purpose cleaner should be ok for most of it, mate. Just spray on, then agitate with a brush, then rinse off :)

You might also want to use something stronger like IPA afterwards as well, to remove ingrained contaminants.

Although wouldn't you be sanding it down before spraying?

after the nightmare i had the other day, i wouldnt recommend anything

depends how dirty they are though i guess

Thinners recomended for the type of paint your using.

Dish washer on a hot cycle with 2 tablets. Depends if you can get it in and get away with it!

I've never thought of doing that, nice idea.

Why would a head be any worse than a manky chip pan or sunday dinner tins and plates etc?

It's not as if the dishwasher knows and thinks 'sod it, I've had enough of this abuse... I know my rights to go tits up!'

well i thought that and thought maybe it was just bad timing but then thought id lick a plate clean but a cylinder head......

LOL

I wish I could use this as a sig :p

Brake cleaner and a wire brush work great.
Could also recomend "Gunk", brilliant for degreasing.
Just brush on and hose off :)
