Under the skin, the newcomer will benefit from a significant makeover. Expect the aggressive 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine to get a boost in power from 197bhp to around 240bhp.

However, the French manufacturer is keen to make sure this potent new model doesn’t step on the toes of the more expensive 247bhp Renaultsport Mégane. Suspension will be similar to the set-up in the current Renaultsport Clio Cup, but with race-derived Sachs dampers, as fitted to the Clio 182 Trophy that was launched in 2005.

The car will also boast bigger brakes and Bridgestone Potenza tyres – as on the new Mégane 265 Trophy, which recently set a new lap record for a front-wheel-drive car around the legendary Nürburgring track.

Rather than being a pared-back race model, the original Clio Williams was plush inside – and the newcomer aims to follow the same example. So buyers can expect to find all the kit from the standard variant, including climate control and TomTom sat-nav. Interior modifications will also include Recaro seats embossed with the Williams logo, and a plaque commemorating each car’s place in the production run.

What do you guys think?

Sounds like it could be one awesome car!! Love the colour but not the gold alloys

I'll believe it when I see it... It sounds as though it would make one awesome hot hatch, just a shame that photoshop doesn't show it's true potential.

197bhp > 240 bhp. 1) shouldn't this be "200 > 240" and 2) the only way they can get an increase like that is with a turbo... we can only hope!

Don't the 197 and the 200 use the same engine though? Thought it was the same output?

No the 200 has some tweaks giving it the few bhp extra and more mid-range torque amongst other things.

200 is tweeked in a few places.
unless they go same compression as 133 and drop a set of new cams likes of catcams. ported polished head work and manifold might push 240. seen new civics Rs running 240 NA so its do-able but costly :(
i thought it would go the other way of being stripped naked not fattened up

* then again rule of thumb with no turbo'd Rensports i take 10bhp off the power hehe

Don't really believe this..
The Gordini's where something extraordinary back in the day, and nowadays they have the same BHP then the RS versions. So why would Renault have a faster Williams?

I'd love it! Wait, that prototype is a '10 reg... Maybe they'll market them soon then?! :D

It's not a prototype it's an unofficial photoshop mockup ;)

it gay in other words, and given people false hopes

The gold wheels just dont look right on it. Looked great on the orginal williams. Maybe they need to change the wheel design

On a colour managed screen, the picture above looks rather flat and dark. If the acual body colour and shade of gold on the wheels is the same as the original model, it should look good.

If it sells as fast as the original, I wonder if a Williams 2 will follow

I'll believe it when I see it, but loks/sounds awesome!

As people have said, the 200 has been slightly tweaked from the 197, but the 200 does only have around 197bhp and the 197 has 194bhp

Isn't there a difference between old and new bhp? Someone was telling me recently about how lots aim for 200bhp but that comes out at 197bhp in old money.
