Righto you 'togs out there that use CF memory, I need (please) recommendations for min 16Gb cards. I need a fast one I'm trigger happy and also take lots of shots in very quick succession so need a card that can cope.

The reason I need that min is I always shoot in RAW.

Thanks in advance....

If your maxing out your camera buffer with a burst of pictures, then the higher write speed of a good card would help, although theres not much point in going for the best cards unless your camera can transfer data fast enough to make it worth while.

Sandisc extreme 3 offer a good compromise of read, write speeds and cost.

Two or three smaller cards offer more flexibility and could prevent total disaster if the cardis lost or damaged. Also, maybe get a small top spec card for action bursts and lesser spec for static single shot stuff

Ahh yeah good point I'll have to check the spec of the transfer speeds.

Scandisk is what I use ATM.

Might just buy another 16Gb. I'll be taking my Mac so IF I do lose any data it'll only be a days worth.

some cameras can be fussy with high capacity cards, so it could be worth reading up or asking on the talkphotography forum for a recomendation if splashing out on one larger than you have already.

I noticed a definate increase in write speed and download read speed going from sandisc ultra to extreme 3 on a nikon d300. Being as i normaly only shoot short bursts of 4-6 frames, the buffer can easily store this and write it to the card before the next burst, even with a slowish card. The faster card allows me to use the 9 frames at 8fps without slowing down much for the last few frames. The better download speed was the most useful part, when downloading a card full of pictures.

the sandisc extreme 3 is the best I've used. got a few of them now and none have failed
