How much is down to an engine supplier and how much is down to a very special technical designer?

to edit my first post, "Renault powerd team"

red bull had a choice of the engines they use, and picked renault as an all rounder, aswell as the support renault give them they prob send around 20-30 plpl just to provide engine support to the team. there will be loads of factors why they choose them over other makes of engines.

lets not forget aswell red bull dont make engines, could make a very very good car but with no engine.

F1 is partially prototype technology and R&D that ends up in the common car.

Just look at the engine sizes 10 years ago and now.

Turbocharger now commonly found in almost every car was first tested on race cars/race tracks

Wasn't Mr. Renault the inventor on the turbocharged car?

I'm not disputing the technological link appears to be moving towards being able to see a relevance in today's road cars more than say 10 years ago, when you couldn't see one. And it's had to change, more to chase viewers I suspect. but my point was more can Renault take much credit or is it really down to the clever packaging by newey

Nup. Red Bull would have won more races this season if Renault had made more reliable alternators. Red Bull's success is down to one man and one man only.

Newey. Hee haw to do with Renault tbh.

I would say renault can take credit from it, after all it powers the thing.
if that was true, williams, caterham, torro rosso and lotus would be the best cars on the field??

If you look the table of the 4 top teams 2 Are powered by Renault, and Williams have made a massive leap forward compared to when they were using cosworth.
Toro Rosso don't use renault.

Not saying its purely down to renault like my post said renault can take credit "from" it and not "for it" just saying newey chose Renault for a reason.

Each engine supper can supply 4 teams at the most, And only renault is supplying 4 teams. Red bull, lotus, Williams, caterham
