So.. Im weighing up the possibilities of getting a custom made exhaust.

Theres a place that did my mates polo gti and it sounded AMAZING!
And ive asked the same place and they said prices start from £275 fitting included.. I asked for it to be 100% legal too

Ive asked what this includes and what bungs the price up..

Im not bothered about bhp gains, just want a lush sounding exhaust with a sexy tip similar to the renaultsport accessory exhaust tip

Just wondering if anyone new if thats a good price, if its worth it, and what kind of sound i should expect?

Hope someone can give me some info :D

I'm going this route debating weather to keep cat or not though... I've got ktec stealth centre section and 182 cat at mo

I asked k-tech if their exhaust fitted mine, but it doesnt.. I just want it to sound like a piece of beauty!

That might be a shout mike, research what cat you can use with it...

the cat is a massive restriction to the flow of the exhaust gasses. try sprinting at full speed with a scarf wrapped around your neck, that's the effect the cat has in your exhaust. it sucks. gains after a de-cat are usually between 5-15% depending on your car. you can get tiny little sports cats which will let you scrape through emissions tests, but offer a much less restriction to the flow of gasses.

You're missing the point on the OP, he is after noise not gains as trying to get gains in a 1.2n/a is pointless.

What about just a custom made stainless back box? What difference would a stainless cat back system be to just a stainless back box?

pointless? so a turbo charged / super charged / naturally aspirated car breathes the same way. so no, it's not pointless. in actual fact, getting the breathing of your car correct is one of the most important modifications you can do. and if you want it to be loud, you really need to remove the cat as removing it is the last restriction. so firstly, he'll get lots of noise. secondly, as a universal rule of thumb he'll get some gains in power. not much, a few horses.

Custom back box will give a Definate noise increase, but will be like a universal one where the old one is chopped off and a new one in place.

How many silencers do you have? 2 like the RS?

EDIT: I said in a 1.2na not anything else and the OP is about noise only not tiny gains ;)

If you want noise and performance go for straight through silencers doesn't interrupt the flow bud

I dont want 'loud' noise necasserily.. I said i want it to be legal and sound like a car having an orgasm..

I dont want a straight through pipe that makes me the most known car in blackpool for anoyingness of his exhaust

Im not sure how many silencers i have.. Probably same as the gt?

Im seriously not bothered about any airflow or ways to make it louder.. Im not driving a saxo :p

NA / turbo / super. it all breathes the same way fella. if you decat a naturall aspirated car, regardless of that being a 1.2 renault twingo or a ferrari, you will get an increase in power. the original power is what determines the gains. the 1.2 will hardly see gains, merely 2-5hp which is a by product of the decate of any car. silencers work on the same principles, when you create a restriction in the exhaust system such as a cat or resonating chambers / backboxes / silences, w/e you choose to call them, you dampen out the sound. remove them, sound and power increases. that's why you should go to this custom exhaust place, explain to mr make me an exhaust the exact sound and note you want to hear. and have him make you it! ;)

That was the general idea in the firat place :p should email him with more info tomorrow..
I will want to be able to put the original one back on when it comes to selling too, so i dont want to be cutting/welding

hope this helps you a bit ;)

Mike. How far away are u from macclesfield? Jp exhausts there will make u an amazing exhaust. They will tune it so u get the exact sound u want. I kind of agree about swapping the cat for a sports cat, will get a much better noise with one fitted. They are a bit more expensive than a lot of places but well worth it

Give them a call mate 01625 619916

I'm pretty sure the I-music only has the backbox (which is massive!) It just looked like a straight through pipe underneath. There's some videos on YouTube with the 1.2 16v with universal backboxes and they sound alright.
