Okay so I have found myself cruising along quite happily at about 1500 RPM and I am getting approx 40 MPG which seems really nice to me.
Just curious what kind of RPM others cruise along at and what kind of MPG is achieved so please inform me :)

1500rpm is only about 30mph. That speed is ok round town, but I would normaly be in 3rd or 4th in town.

60mph and 3000rpm normaly sees an easy 36ish mpg. Going over 5k regularly brings the mpg down prety quick.

Damn it, drive that RS like its ment to be, like your pubes are on fire

Drive it like you stole it!

I like you do town driven around the 2000 rpm area so I have a bit of torque readily if I needs to be and I have some rpg left if I need to slam on the brakes

Cant yet im supposed to keep it to 3500 rpm until i break 600 miles
few more days now

I've still got another 600km of running in to do... A few folks I've spoken to suggest I don't run her in at all, just tank her out the gate and it will run better in the long run??? Hard to believe that one, so I'm just playing by the book  Anyone do this, and if so, any difference now?

Well there's different views but normally works like... If you give the car hell out the gates they normally produce a little more power but engines don't last as long and if you play by book it will be a little less power and last longer.

Did Alex ever get to 600 miles

when my 200 got a new engine on zero miles, i gave it 3 or 4 miles to warm up then was straight on the motorway at 145mph for 10 minutes lol, car made 203bhp when it had only done 1000 miles!

Hope you lot are right about this because after a nice 30 min warm up earlier I started giving my car the beans

I drive to Plymouth from East Kilbride once or twice a year and if I have a new car I do a mpg run, and got 53 mpg out the cup. A Citroen c1 will do 76! And a r33 gist can do 39!!! Takes a few hours tho lol

I did about 140 odd miles the other day cruising at about 77-80 and got 35mpg

I'm sure you weren't in the UK then. ;)

Nope on mars! To be fair you'd have to be a hard nose cop to pull someone at 80 on a motorway it's the cruising speed of everyone now a days. Feels dangerous a 70!

Anyway back to the mpg around Milton Keynes I can only get about 28

Well since you guys mentioned it being ok to rev the car even when new I have been worrying alot less. Only getting about 28mpg now though and I swear im still pretty light with acceleration

But that's running it in still isn't it? MPG is usually rubbish when running in anyway lol, I average 32mpg in my GT though...
