When sorting out the insurance this morning, they asked if it was modified or altered from the manufacturers spec. Being as the cup chassis is a customer option for the Gordini, I mentioned it, otherwise they would probably only value the car on the basic price or not pay out at all

How many of you have declared build options?

i had to with admiral, i had to declare my graphics, cup chassis and the wheels were extra as well. they arent going to like renewal day this year when i have to declare even more

I tried explaining cup chassis to admiral. Bloody indian call center. When I got through to someone else though, sorted in no time. Cor is it just me that finds a woman with a welsh accent hot?!

all, this was news to me and i rang admiral to check - and it seems yes you do have to declare them....i argued that i wasnt asked when i took out the policy (as to the best of my memory i wasnt!) and they added the cup chassis pack and uprated stereo free. basically he said the car is still insured, but the optional extras are not covered....so if you have a chassis pack that is the chassis!! beware!

Your not the only one!

tbh i stated that i had the ff 133 but i didnt state that i had the cup chassis i dont think i dont see it on my papers are u suppose to declair it? tbh i was just glad it dropped from £310 pm to £160 pm lol and im with admiral :S

How much?!?!?!?!

Cup (which actually was more expensive to insure than the ff i was gonna buy) worked out at £650 a year for me. And that's with admiral. What have you done? Surely 11 points, and rammed into several expesnive motors in the past 12 months?!

How much!?!?!?!?! is exactly right. I thought it was an excellent price for a second, untill I spotted PM  Ouch

You shouldnt have to declare it as it is still a standard car and came out the factory like that. Its not like they are going to be able to tell that it's a cup chassis in the event you write your car off.

Aye im with them, doubt theyll be able to tell its a 'cup' chassis tbh.

EXACTLY - with all the info the insurers have to hand, if you give them your reg no, they should know EXACTLY how it came out of the factiry if it's unmodded by you.

If they do, they could refuse to pay out after an accident. Though that would be rather pedantic unless the accident was speed/grip/chassis related.

If they didn't notice, they would just offer the price based on the standard chassis.

I had this problem with an Astra with the Vauxhall factory fit LPG conversion and nearly lost out. Fortunately they repaired it, though I would have been out of pocket if it went to a right off
