Can't find the details that came when we got the car but my mums Clio needs a good 'ol going over! It's got the g-3 (I think that's what it's called) glass protection thing on it.. So was wondering if anyone knows how I can do a good job other than just a wash? Cheers guys :)

Strip it back and start again. The stuff itself isnt.bad, but only if applied to clean paint. Which renault wont have.

Yeah but isnt it meant to be a cover to last three or four years or something?

If it is applied in acordance with the instructions, it should last a while... However, prep time allowed on new cars means it is highly unlikely to last as long as it could

it took forever to get the car which is why they put it on in the first place, i think from when it got to the dealership it was another week to 10 days before it was collected.. enough time for them? so am i better off just giving it a wash and not do anything else to it? :S

Cheers SingleSpeed :) Think i will just use some born to be mild on it... im not that interested, just wanted to play with my new polishes etc :)

Hope my post in the other thread helped mate.

Those dealer applied sealants simply don't last as they say. As I said, maybe if they adhered to perfect prep work they might but no dealership valeter is going to clay, polish and then apply them.

The protection on my Mrs Twingo lasted abour 3 months before the beading was almost gone. By which point I polished as normal and applied my own wax. Fortunately though, we didn't pay for it. At least it saved me waxing her car for the first 3 months! lol

Lazy git :)

I've now got another 133 I'm gonan look after that's had the treatment, and it's being stripped off and replaced with something much better ;)

I've just done two cars today, one ttrs and the other was an aygo which had the treatment. It's an 11 plate and there was no protection on it when I got my hands on it. Now fully protected with wolfs body wrap which is insane how good it is!

Thanks Alex, I did read it and it was useful!
Ive now decided that I am going to strip the whole coating off the car and polish and wax it myself. After a bit of rain today I can see the beading is completely gone! The Clio is just over a year I think I was told earlier so think it's all gone!

I had the g3 and got told that just washing with any shampoo will still leave the g3 on. Used turtle wax and it had gone within a month so now polish and wax it myself and gives a better finish.

I'm pleased that it was a freebie due to renaults mix ups, amongst other things!

If you ever need a hand I'm always willing to show anyone. I'm back on it now I'm feeling better :D

I know haha Thing is I was intrigued to see how long the protection aka beading, lasted.

Washed the car with Chemical Guy's Maxi Suds, with a not too strong solution and three months was the maximum. Funny thing is the G3 Glasscoat claims 5 years!!!

It does claim to be detergent proof, much like Collinite 476 or Finishkare waxes do. Thing is though, mix up a strong enough shampoo solution and you'd still break them down.

As a freebie, it's not a terrible thing to have applied.
