Hi, has anyone done an oil change on their 133?

I only ask as when I was cleaning I had a look under the bonnet to see where everything is. It looks like I will need a small child to access the filter with - getting at it via the bonnet opening looks nigh on impossible!

How easy is it (if possible) to remove the undertray if the vehicle is on the road, and can the filter be accessed from underneath without the use of the aforementioned small child?

I've owned and serviced a lot of cars, including several mid engined, and none were as tight fitting in the engine bay as this looks!!!

Undertray has to come off to get to the sump plug. But yeah the oil filter location is a right mare. You can get to it from the top but you need double jointed super small strong hands.

I also need to carry out an oil/filter change on mine very soon, so I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread for any tips/advice. If anyone has any pictures, guides or specific advice, that would be a great help!

Also, can anyone tell me how to turn out the service light? When I've done servicing myself on other cars, there's been a button sequence to turn it off. I think the light on mine will come on soon, based on mileage, so I'll need to turn it of once I've serviced it.

The oil filter is hard to get off its at the front of the engine near the rad and a metal bar

Thanks for the tips.. I take it the metal bar you remove to gain access is under the car behind the front bumper, and then the filter is accessed from below once you have removed the bar and plastic undertray?

Did you manage to gain access without using a car lift, lying underneath?

You use the button on the wiper stalk to bring up the service indicator. Then press and hold the button in, it will start to flash, keep it held down and it will reset

Bare in mind I did mine on my ramp at work.
Remove under tray there is aprox 8 10mm bolts and 4 t20 torx screws holding the under tray on.
Then using an 8mm square to undue the sump plug.
I've got a oil filter tool that fits over the oil filter and allows you to put in. 3/8 ratchet which is a long flexible headed type and I removed from underneath.
I think what fredi is on about is the metal bar between the alternator and block to allow you to remove from the top.

if you remove the bar, you can do it from the top.

Thanks for all the advice. As my service interval is 18,000miles/2 years, I intend to change oil & filter at the halfway point!

Agreed - thanks for all of the advice guys.

Anyone remember off the top of their head how much oil the 133 engine takes?

They changed the service interval for newer models, without changing the car :s

It will be because Renault want to advertise better running costs.

I wouldn't risk it either. I get mine changed once a year, which is why I'm gonna do it very soon.

Having said that, when I used to work for Nissan, I spoke to customers who hadn't serviced their car at all in the 8+ years they'd owned it and they'd never had an engine problem
