I seem to remember there being a few tapatalk signatures on this forum, so thought I'd post to see if anyone on here is using a forum app (like tapatalk if the module is enabled), and if people find them any good?

i use tapatalk, its great, can pick up pms, see all pictures, shows all unread posts, can browse and search. the only thing i have problems with is looking at the videos

Yup Taptalk is spot on, recent updates have added some good functionality. It does sometimes bugger about when there are images or links and just not show them, rarely though.

Twingo oc doesn't seem to work on it propery, you get doubles up of threads. Not had any problems with 133.net :)

Sounds promising. Does it give you the 'view unread posts' feature?

Sounds awesome. May well invest for when I'm out and about

Cheers for your help guys. Am gonna give it a try and see how it goes...

Good work there Matt. Am having a play now (have hopefully turned the auto signature fully off for this account). Seems to work nice and smoothly. :)

Is this Taptalk thing purely for iphones and how does it differ from normal web browsing?

Not just iPhones. It's basically just an App that connects to forums (providing they have the plugin for it) and makes the browsing a lot easier. It's much quicker and formatted nicely on the smaller screens.

Check out the website: https://www.tapatalk.com/

I believe tapatalk is also available on Android https://market.android.com/search?q=tapatalk&so=1&c=apps, though currently only on blackberry as a public beta. (out in the wild testing phase)

It's having a dedicated app for the forums, instead of having to browse to the forum in a browser, login, etc, everything is handled inside an app. It's much faster for mobile browsing as you don't have to download all the background pictures etc on a page that a browser would, it only needs to download the conversation text, meaning much speedier load times if you're out and about. It also means you get custom interfaces designed for your device. When I was out and about yesterday typing on the forum in a mobile browser, I often found myself typing behind the options panel below, unable to see what I was typing without fiddling around. With a custom interface, everything is displayed and can be interacted with very easily.

(d'oh got beaten too it. you're too fast Matt ;) )
