i know there are lots of tech guys on here and lots of music lovers so i have a bit of a Q!!
can anyone recommend some good sites for downloading music?

i love nearly all types of music and buy music in lots of diffrent formats but i have recently upgraded some of my music equipment and my music room is bulging at the sides with millions of cd's,vinyl etc so im going to get with the modern times and start downloading some.

i have a new separate external hard drive ready to b filled but it is going to take me a lifetime to transfer stuff on to it but once it is done i have an endless list of songs/albums i want so need some good websites to go to get them!!
also i no there are some free sites but on sites u have to pay for eg itunes do you pay per song/album??and do you have to pay for all music or are older songs etc free or cheaper??

On itunes you can buy just single songs or whole albums, all tracks are usually around .99p and older songs can sometimes be cheaper but are unlikely to be free. Last time i looked ( a while ago i will admit) it was cheaper to download songs from amazons music service at .79-.89p.

does anyone use limewire??
or is that a no no

limewire was closed down by NYC judges coz of copyright breaches lol

(pm is still internet :p)

Lets say, i find the music video i want, then i have a thing called real player. comes with everything i need :)

is pirate bay still around? i havnt used torrents for about a year now, got a nice letter from sky saying they are tracing me doing it :(

dont know about pirate bay, personally i use site torrentz.eu. And at least in Slovakia when downloading its not illegal, illegal is just to upload and share.

Sign up to something like spotify, then u can keep the album for a while and then get something else when your bored. It's awesome and available for the iPhone too. There may also be a way to get it and keep it too but I wouldn't know that coz I keep things legal :)

I use uTorrent for "transferring my friend's original recordings"

*I actually do, I have a few musicians as friends and it makes it a damn side easier, though I may or may not use it for other things as well...

Completely agree mate! P2P software is the worse thing ever. All we do all day is sort out computers that have been infected with people using that s**t. If u really want to and it's a bit of a grey area is sign up to a news group such as easy news and get music that way. 9 dollars a month and 20gb of whatever u want.
