Is there any magic cures anyone knows of for Ear ache? Iv taken the usual decongestants etc and they have done very little.

Want it cleared up before setting off the WSR.

A really tiny amount of olive oil on a bit of cotton wool and shove it in there. (coming from a very ear achey baby!)

That and laying your head on a hot water bottle helps.

If not ears syringed is the way forward. Had it done once I could hear a pin drop for about a week lol does the trick though.

That could be the plan.

However I am feeling a bit ropey now, thought it maybe the jack Daniels I polished off last night. But it seems I am filling up with snot. Grim

I had really bad flu not too long ago and ended up with infections in both ears (usually it only happens to one). After a week of pain I went to docs and they gave me antibiotics which cleared it in a few days and made it feel a lot better after day one really.

For temporary relief I found (and this will make you think I'm a weirdo) bending down and almost putting your head between your legs really helps. Occasionally the ears will pop which feels oh so good! I guess its to do with pressure...

Just don't go poking around too hard or doing the 'hold your nose and blow' thing as if it is an infection it can really bugger you up.

Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor. But that's going to be obvious from the above right?

Cheers for the replies people. This has buggered wrs for us, my 3 year old son has now got what ever I have and the little bugger is really suffering. Been up most of the night coughing and spluttering. Really hoped to take him as he'd love it, instead the two of us are slobbed out on the sofa watching 'cars' on repeat.
