Right! thanks for everyones advice, I have managed to get a boot light wired into the twingo (for those who dont know it is a standard twingo 1.2 extreme 2009 reg)

First i removed the rear boot carpet (left hand side) and the parcel shelf support. this revealed a wire holder with two sets of wires in.. one was for the rear light system, the other had nothing plugged into it.

Please note- the boot light wires are tucked away out of sight in a white plastice wire holder, so you have to look for it.

anyway, i was being cheap and didnt want to buy a renault light, so i lopped the end off the red and pink wires and wired in one off a saxo. pictures to follow :D

The red and pink wires are the boot light wires from the twingo - the orange and grey are my saxo boot light.

Then i decided to fit a white bulb as i had one sitting doing nothing, and the standard saxo bulb was getting quite hot.

Going to see if I have these wires, if I do, guess what my next purchase will be :)

certainly worth a look! makes the car a lot more user friendly at night. the wires are tucked right up above the passenger side rear light cluster inside a wire holder.

they are pink and white with a 4 female pronged black plastic end on it.

good luck! i look forward to seeing which models have these wires :D
