Ok so over the weekend, I hired a brand new Fiat 500 1.2l (1242cc) Pop to travel down to Brighton to do some activities with a few close friends and family members in celebration of my 21st birthday.
I really quite like the retro-ness of the 500 and so when the hire car company offered it me, I couldn't wait to get behind the wheel! This being the base model, had all the great amazing gizmos including air conditioning and Bluetooth/iPhone auxiliary inputs, plus stop-start which dis-engages the engine when you're stuck in traffic. The car is much nippier than the Twingo and gets up to speed in a lot less time!
There was plenty of room in the back and front, and also the boot too.
The only disappointing thing about it was the fuel economy. It has 69bhp which is quite a lot of horse power for a 1.2 engine. I just about made it to Brighton and back on one tank of fuel and on arrival home, the fuel light had come on and it was down to one bar of fuel. The range computer told me I only had like 20miles of driving left. So I put £10.00 petrol in and by the time I'd taken it to Oxford (20 miles from my house) to return it, it was practically empty again.
Pretty shocking fuel economy but all in all a great car. Given the fuel economy on the Twingo is far better than that of the Fiat 500, I think I'll be sticking with the Twingo for now!
