Any reasons why it wouldnt be working on one side. Dipped works fine, but main beam doesn't on the drivers side. It's not the bulb. No obvious fuses gone in the cabin.

Of course it could. But I've had a butchers and there's no obvious faults in the wire in the engine bay. Wondering if there's Somethkng obvious in case someone has experienced it before

I've had this problem before. It was actually the bulb even though you said it wasnt

Sorry Rob, but it's not. Swapped them, and it didn't work, and the bulb worked in the kther headlamp.

Check the segiment in the bulb and the 1 bulb does both high and low beams. You will more then likely need a new bulb.

Karl, swapped over. One both bulbs operating fine. I also changed them for new ones as they were rubbish standard before that. It's the right hand lamp only, not the bulb.

Oh i never read much of it if im honest can you hear it flicking from low to high?

Tbh I've been by myself to try it so haven't been able to watch it, and the bonnet was open so just lots of loud buzzing

A hammer will sort it :)

I'm prety sure theres only one relay for both main beams and another relay for both dip beams and likewise with the fuses.

If the fault is still present in the same light, after swapping the bulbs over or replacing the bulbs, it would point towards the wiring or bulb holder. In the bulb connectors, the white wire is the +12v for main beam and the black wire is the ground/earth. If dip beam is working, that narrows it down to the +12v white cable as the earth is used for dip and main beams.

Do you have a multimeter?

I do. But I can't get in the garage for the weekend  I will check the wiring on the bulb holder. As said, it doesn't look damaged but worth checking

Well, I'm confused now :?

Just had a quick look between the rain showers. The relay is only a single pole relay, so one switched path to power both left and right sides. However, testing for continuity for the main beam (white wire) between the left and right bulb holders gives an open circuit unless the headlights are selected to main beam. Then, you get continuity between left/right and +12V at both sides when measured to ground. Either they are wired up in a weird and wonderful way or, theres something else between the relay and the headlight which is controling the main beam.

You could try swapping the relays over for dip/main beams in the top of the glove box, but they are slightly difficult to get to... and I doubt that would cure it or swap the fault to dip beam

Gonna try swapping the relays in a bit. Since it may be them. Not had time to actually look and it's embarrassing flashing people to go and them not seeing it! Not to mention quite dangerous
