Gear knob

I'm looking at getting an aftermarket gear knob, does anybody know what diameter I need for it to slot back onto the original gearstick after pulling the original off?

pull it off, take it to the hardware / tool shop ... tell them to stick a couple of bolts in it, bingo! that'll be your thread pitch figured out

Wanting a jap style one but there all twist on so gunna buy one and get rid of the threads and slot it on so just need the basic diameter on how wide I will need it
