Gearchange Rattle

When I change gear in my 2010 RS Gordini, sometimes there is a rattle. Similar to the rattle you'd get if you tried to set off from a standstill in 3rd gear. What is this? Does something need to be tightened?

Does it make the same rattle when you turn the engine off??

Have you ever looked at the dog bone engine mount?? does it somtimes knock when turning off or on idle? that would be the first thing i would check

I haven't no...
But my god is knocks really bad when I dip the clutch and when I turn on and off the engine..
Do you have any pictures so I can check it out ?

Heres the dog bone (lower engine/gearbox mounting link)

When worn, the bottom end of the engine can move backwards and forwards when the torque from the engine changes. Then, anything connected to the engine which is close to the body/subframe can also move and knock. The exhaust passes over the subframe just above the rear end (larger bush) of the dogbone.

Also, check the mounting hanger in the center of the exhaust and the joint between front and center exhaust sections as this could allow the exhaust to droop and be closer to the subframe than intended

Vibra-Technics have just done an upgraged dogbone if yours is shot.

It's going into renault Thursday as my airbag sensor won't go off
No doubt they will tell me my engine needs replacing aha
But I'll see how much they come back with.
Any any of this covered with warrenty?

Just thought I'd update you.

Went to Richard Sanders Citroen. Northampton
They've just added a Renault garage side there too and they were excellent
Fixed my airbag sensors, and found out the problem was the top engine mount
Not the bottom
Fixed everything free of charge.
The Kettering Renault said that none of it was covered under warranty
So happy with the service I received
They even cleaned the car... Inside and out

No noises, no engine movement and no lights on my dash
And a dirt free car.
About time I got some luck with a garage. Will never forget my runnings with Allen ford!!
