Right,
I do alot of my work for clients

the client im working on at the moment is not happy with how the work was done last year and not happy with the manager ( my manager)

now im going the extra mile at the moment to please the client and make it much better this year.. thing is... i very much doubt it will be fed back to the manager... so i feel good about what im doing.. but it wont get back and i wont get the recognition i deserve... am i bad for being angry about this?

what would you do!?

happens all the time mate!
the best thing to do is get the customer to say something to your boss about how great u are and how helpful you have been so maybe he will take note ;)

altho my boss is a t**t and wouldnt do anything anyway

Another thankless job? Never heard of it.

As Mike says, just politely ask the client if they are happy with your work and pass it on.

mine is the same buddy :(..

....think is i cant just say to the client " tell my boss im awesome" lol

it's a hard one. It's not like you have a client feedback thing, like some people have on their websites - quotes etc saying how great the service was.

Maybe suggest to the client that if they are happy with the work say you'd be delighted to continue further work for them as and when needed and build up a repertoire that way. Repeat business is a sure sign of excellent work (well in most cases)

Depending on the work you're doing depends on how you get feedback.

I would ask when the work is complete if they would write a small letter of thanks to you personally thanking you for the work completed, that way you can put it in you portfolio. Even a quick email then you can show your mgr.

Otherwise man up and get on with it as others have eluded to, **** happens to us all it's how you deal with it. If you become a 'petchulant kid' then your mgr could shaft you more at a later date because all he sees is you whinging. I know they don't always see that they can/could be the prob but unfortunately they're in that [higher] position and you're not. It's do as I say not as I do.......
