Was returning to my car and at same time guy with MG was returning to his, he said great looking car and he'd had a Gordini 8 in the 70s

1st person who has known about Gordini most people have no idea who Gordini was

I think to know about a Gordini you have to be into your Renaults other wise people can think it just another car with stripes

When I drive around and people stare, I just think they think I'm just a boy racer whos stuck go faster stripes on my car...

So many people will look at it and think 'Oooh look it's got racing stripes' with no clue as to what they represent.

What doesn't help is that there's so many small cars that you can get stripes/graphics on. Suzuki Swift, BMW Mini etc so it kind of makes stripes on a car less unusual.

Nice to get a compliment on it though. :)

Some bloke asked me why they had named the car after an ex prime minister! Not many know!

Must have been nice to meet someone who knew the pedigree......I spent the first few days of Gordini-ship phoning all my 'old enough to remember' mates and telling them what I'd bought........there were lots of oohs and ahhhs and a bit of reminissing over R5s, RSTs, XRs and the like........those were the days ;)

Yes and it doesn't try and park you backwards in the nearest hedge if you lift off mid bend, watched a repeat of 5th Gear the other day and Tiff had a versus race with a White RS Turbo Escort -v- a (you've guessed it) white Astra MK2 GTe 16v the Astra lost but had some shocking lift off oversteer. My mate had a gold one but he solved this by fast in a straight line only

Back in the day hot Vauxhalls were ALWAYS quickest in a straight line but had a nasty tendency to trip and fall on the twisty bits. XR3 and RSTurbo Escorts - and even more so Fiesta XR2s - were much more nimble round corners
