Sat here waiting while they look at the unsolvable drivers seat and knocking from rear suspension, and one of the managers has come over asking about the new wheels.

He couldn't understand how they fit as they are not the right size.

My response was to list every dimension of the alloy wheel and tyre, and telling him that a lot of aftermarket alloys require spigot rings as it would be impractical for manufacturers to make all the different sizes for different cars.

He walked off looking confused haha while I'm still sat here laughing

What are your wheels?

He's not an engineer I'm guessing, as long as they don't use that to claim you've caused the knocking/creaking. They may have been after an answer to see if they can blame you?

The things that dealerships come out with though. Does make you laugh.

The one that tried to charge for an item they changed. I asked them to show me the old item so I could assess its condition. Which I couldn't see as it had been thrown.
When I asked how they changed it they couldn't/wouldn't answer.
When I then pointed out my car doesn't have the item fitted to have been changed...

Watford haven't been used for anything but parts since

I know he was asking questions to try and catch me out.
They had it on the ramps and said they couldn't see anything, still knocking on the way home. I'm just going to replace the top mounts might as well try. Tbh since the hassle I had with then last year they seem to have improved a lot I'll give them that. It just takes multiple visits before they'll actually do any work

Go back mate and get a "mechanic" to go out in the car so they can hear the knocking. They cant deny it then

Pointless... they never hear the noise and eventually start calling you a lier and not a mechanice so i don't know what i'm on about...

He took it in a bad way when i told him he wasn't a mechanic either just a technician :p

Haha. I've just learned to take then with a pinch of salt

Off topic, but is there a new megane due out? As they had over 10 new meganes parked up with delivery mileage for just over 12 grand

I've just got back from my local dealer my boy the little **** has cost £364 of damage braking my wife's lock turning the child lock on and off on her scenic

To me it is surprising and somewhat concerning just how little quite a lot of staff at some car dealerships actually know about cars. And it's not even minor technical stuff such as wheel dimensions and fitments, I was at a Vauxhall dealership recently whereby the guy we were speaking to kept referring to one trim level of Corsa as the "XSI" (the SXI) and when I asked why one of their used Limited Edition models had aftermarket alloys, debadged bootlid and colour coded front grille & fog light surrounds, he simply replied with "ah yeah, you can spec them with that if you want this bit painted, and you can spec one without the rear badges too". Really??!
