Right, I've noticed on my car a pipe before the throttle that has been capped off. Normal? Seems a bit weird to me, or has the last owner changed the blowoff valve set up?

That's an aftermarket dump valve, the pipe closer to the front end should still be attached into the dump valve, at the back of the engine bay inline with the dump valve there is a ribbed pipe which should have a blanking plug in from the setup I see in your photo(hard to tell without seeing the whole right side of the engine)

And then the pipe on top is just your vacuum pipe which should be attached to like a nipple on top of the engine block otherwise there will be no boost.

ah, thought so. The previous owner is a pain in the arse.......

Its the other way round though, the pipe at the front of the car is blocked, and the dump valve is on a pipe coming from the back of the engine.

ah well, something else to sort out

Well that can't be good for the engine?! If the dump valve is coming off the back the boost pressure cannot vent anywhere? Surely can't be good for the turbo!

Yeah.... that's wrong.

Can't upload how my GTs dump valve was set up otherwise that would show you, if you take a clear picture abit further away tomorrow in daylight I can try explain if you're still unsure.

Standing infront of the car with the bonnet up the pipe closest should go into the dump valve and the far back one should be blocked off with the 25mm bung ;)

I think JE_GT might have a picture of his dump valve in his thread, or there might be one in my old GT thread but I'm not sure if I actually uploaded it.

well, I'll put the one on there the right way around tomorrow, but has anyone got a original blow off valve, or its part number so I can put it back to standard. Or even just a good re-circulating set up.

not a problem mate.

im sure you could pick one up from a scrappy or ebay. I pretty sure the bosch valves are all the same so you could get one off any other tubo car that uses them.

Lgonzalez has one. Whether he wants to sell is another story
You called?...have to see if I can find it, I'll look tomorrow for you if your interested in the standard part, it's not the full recirc setup just the dv part as it were so vents to atmosphere. If I find it I'll post a pic so you can see exactly what I mean.

Here you go mate...

Has a blanking plug in the end that would be tje recirc part but is the standard dv body as it were.

Is the blanking plug is just on the end of the pipe, so I can just undo the jubilee clip and pull the pipe off?

Anyway, do you want to sell it to me?

Yep it is so I assume it could be turned back into the full recirc pipe with the correct pipework reattached if that's even available.

But yer I'll sell it you, make me an offer...dno how much it's really worth :-/ ... £30? How far away are you? I'm in Gillingham, kent... Could always run it up for you and save on the paypal fees if you're not too far away?

£30 sounds fair enough. I'm in Sutton Surrey, so about 40 mile away / An hour and a bit away I say. I can come to you if you want to on Saturday or tomorrow afternoon.
