Just looking at my car whilst having a *** and realised how ugly the gt spoiler makes it look and it got me tjinking ifbit serves any purpose whatsoever?

The cup extends back so i can see that having some sort of effect especially if thr car had a decent diffuser but the gt looks pants and probably is.

Opinions? And is it easy to remove?

I doubt either have any effect considering how much drag the front causes anyway.

I looked at my neighbours saxo compared to the twingo and no wonder the acceleration on a vts is so much better over 100mph

Little off topic but ive noticed much better fuel elconomy lately as ive taken to following large people carrier type vehicles in the fast lane doing about 80mph instead of sitting doing 56mph in the slow lane and it got me wondering what sort of distance behind lead vehicle is best for a good slip stream

Look on you tube for "slip stream - mythbusters" or something like that, they looked at that and I think it was a few meters.

The spoiler is easy to remove ( 4 screws that are hidden behind rubber plugs on the inside edge of the boot lid) it will leave 4 holes in the bodywork that will need filling if you don't want any fin.

Alternatively you could just find an extreme/ freeway that is being broken and buy the entire bootlid - as these don't have the holes for a spoiler.

Ive noticed no different in driving with the RS spoiler. An the diffuser is just for show unlike the 197/200 which can add an extra 20kg of pressure or something there about

without chopping out the spare wheel well, you couldn't make a rear diffuser with any meaningfull effect. You could flat floor the rear, from the beam backwards, however the well means you couldn't create a steady transition like the 200 to diffuse the under car air.. Unless you extend it rearwards ;).

The gt spoiler may reduce the drag but i'm not even sure of that, but visualy the back end looks rubbish without one.

Going back 20 years to my aerodynamic theory, you would have to be very close for a slipstream. The wake will be almost rejoined by 3 times the width... So an 8 foot wide truck would need you much closer than 24 feet to have any effect. Not recomended unless your brave or stupidly want to inspect the underside of a truck

Yeah i know the diffuser thing is useless which is a shame as the clios one works AND looks awesome! Might consider getting a cup spoiler in future but problem with twingo is everything is so expensive! Clarkson was wrong!

Theres a cool ring vid think the title is who drafts the drafter

I would say that any spoiler on a FWD hot hatch is going to be 99% for aesthetics rather than function.

Any slab front hot hatch will be quick for being light and having a fairly big engine not for it's aerodynamics.

Yeah, it is all for aesthetics, thats the only reason why I fitted a spoiler to my car :)

Im in france atm for 2 weeks, seen a few new shape twingos about... the basic model is ******* hideous.. but the pinky/purple colour with the black/silver alloys is pretty nice! Has a new kind of spoiler closer to the bootlid and lower down, looks alot better than the GT one

Need a photoshop without one i think! Im one for function over form! Looking at it i imagined spoilerless it would look more like the Clio RS.

One thing i would love to do to a twingo is have a working rear diffuser now that would be cool.

Twingos look pants without spoilers :(
