Basically, 1/10 times when I go to start my car the key turns all the way and doesn't turn over, I just have to switch the ignition again to get it started. But tonight it failed to start 3 times in a row and wondering if anyone else has/had this problem and if theres a resolution?

Cheers

Not heard of this problem before but nobody could help without seeing the car first. Id always start at the battery and work your way back with your multimeter up through the ignition system testing the ressistances in all ignition switch positions. You will shortly find the problem

as suggested above start with the battery. most manafactures say batterys have a life of about 4 years. how old is the car?
no sure if this is relavant but i had a problem which sounds exactly like what you have discribed on my old clio. it turned out to be the TDC sensor also known as the crank sensor. its just a case of removing it ( located on the gear box bell housing) and giving it a clean with some emery cloth or fine sand paper. it sorted the problem on mine.

My old GT had constant problems starting where it would just turn over.

Renault couldn't find what was wrong and neither did an independent garage or Paul at RS tuning when I took it for a remap.

Cheers for the help will have a look tomorrow mate,

Just to clarify, ignition goes on lights up dash, fans on etc but when attempting to turnover the lights stay on but fans cut out and doesn't turnover.

its an easy job once you have located it, just unplug the clip and unscrew the two bolts that hold it on. theres a little tiny metal nippple on the end (you will see what i mean when you take it off) just give it a clean. Best of luck! :D

A couple of possibilities:-

Poor electical connections to starter, including the large black Mega fuse at the battery +ve terminal (mine was loose and caused this). Its worth while disconnecting the -ve cable from the battery if your going to spanner check the live connections as your spanner touching the chassis whilst tightening a live will be interesting.

Ignition switch isn't making the start circuit. If you can get to the back of the switch, you could check for continuity/voltage when the key is turned
