Thinking about getting some harnesses then eventually bucket seats but have a couple of questions about the harness. If I got a four point harness would it be ok to feed both the shoulder straps through the head rest-seat gap? Also where are the two side point mountings as I'm not entirely sure. Pics would be appreciated if possible.

Without drilling into things you probably won't get them in, but this is how mine are done..

Rear 2 points where the rear seat belts attach (rendering rear seats useless).
Front side near door clipped onto the seatbelt rail and the other side is attached to an eyelet which is drilled into the subframe.

I wouldn't recommend running harnesses with standard seats.. there's nothing to keep them from slipping over the edge + if you go between the headrest posts then they are too close together really. Save up the extra cash and get some buckets!

I wonder who he is I recall him waiting till his phone was charged ;) mutch love :D

Echoing what Matt has said, OEM seats with harnesses are IMO a big no no. Too much movement and neck snapping possibility.

Seats with harness slots will be designed to take some compression loading below the slots. In a crash, with the shoulder harnesses attached at boot floor level (approx 45degree down), the shoulder harnesses will be pulled downwards against the top of the seat which may not have been designed to take the loading in the case of OEM seats.

im a bit cheeky and do use a harness through the oem head rest gap, but only when we go on the track to keep us in the seats using neck rings still can get whip lash from 4/5/6 points and reason way in any FIA you see HANS system used or as above neck ring. main purpose for us is to keep is planted in the seat and max we do is 10 mins runs, we're not going for the records but do find harness gives as said above a more planted feeling.
would never use it on road use and using harness without a roll cage is asking to be squashed to death, with normal 3 point you have side ways leaveway so if you can see the roof coming down on you you can lilt away, harness your strapped in for ride. i believe Al and the rest still keep and use their 3point for road use but you'd have to ask.
but this is just what my father and I do and would not incurage you to do the same, just letting you know that we do it and no the pro's and cons. And to be honest..... buckets and harness are like porn...oem seats like watching you mother rub one out on a tramp :D

I do not use mine on the road. They are fitted only on track (or photoshoots). And mine are 6-point and properly fitted to FIA eyebolts and a rear bar rather than into existing OEM holes.

Quite a few years ago, whilst in the RAF, one of the younger lads on the squadron had some Cobra seats with tilt mechanism (sidewinder if I remember correctly). He fitted 4 point harnesses, but still wanted to have the rear seats usable.... So he connected the shoulder straps to the seat subframe, having the straps run up the back of the seat, then through the slots. After being told it was unsafe, he didn't change them.

Fortunately the airbag worked, as the seat tilt mechanism and seat back snapped when all the force was taken through the seat

haha +1!

Main reason I asked is because I remember seeing orbsharnesses on oem seats at last years FCS. Might not bother now but do like the look of them. Hmmm decisions decisions.
