im using a mac by the way!!

Need help asap please! thank you so much in advance

Have you got any photo editing software?

What you need to do is.....

Re-save the PDF as a PDF as a JPEG thru the Print menu, edit accordingly
Then save as a PDF (again) thru the print menu...

While we are on PDF's, does anyone know what voodoo software Mac's Preview uses to compress PDF's? It's amazing, dropping file sizes by 70-80% whereas Adobes software can only dream of compression rates like that!

Hmmm interesting but doesn't really explain why it has far better compression than £800 programmes. I use Preview but select Print, then from a dropdown use Compress PDF. It does away with options, which in my opinion is a good thing as it optimises it all. i got my CV from 228kb down to 48kb.

Maybe its being mac is far supreme? :p

Well I would agree. Why anyone buys a PC for anything other than games is beyond me, and lets face it we all have PS3/Xbox for that now so they are kindof pointless. By default they are used, not because they are better.

But I mean Preview is like some "free" programme that comes with the OS. Acrobat compressed the same PDF to 208kb! And that was with minimum image quality!

I've just had a thought, it might not embed the fonts. Which defeats the point in a PDF but might explain the tiny file size. I will check!

Cool cheers mate.

Strange how then with the last two OS's (.5 and .6) that the feature to do it was removed and an update was needed to reinstall the feature. And also how that unless you really looked for it you'd never find it.

Mac OS X includes built-in support for the industry-standard PDF format, so you can read and create PDFs from almost any application in the system — perfect for sharing work with colleagues whether they use a Mac or a PC.

this is what apple said about 10.5 on there site, i know what u mean about the update though, i had to do it to my laptop before it worked

Funny how, going on a post I made somewhere else about the world (Microsoft users) being stuck in 1996 and still using Word - see, PC being used by default not because they are better! - and that Apple has this up to date system of compatibility.

It's the same narrow minded, and dare I say dictatorship, that Microsoft used to create and still persistently create the worst browser on Earth - IE. Microsoft fancied themselves as revolutionaries and have blindly stuck to a dying set of formats as Mac, Safari and Google take over and merge together.

Can you tell I dislike Microsoft and everything that company stands for? lol

na mate, u sound microsofts biggest fan.

i cant say a bad word about either of them, i could get sacked if it gets seen

lol. I can't say the same. And besides mate, if MS every crawled this and saw you slagging them off, between that and it getting emailed to your boss I'm sure it'd pick up a virus written by a dyslexic 9 year-old and then corrupt whatever system it lands on whilst trying to be opened by an out of date exe that was programmed that week.
